Really great memories of both these games, particularly the second one, so I'll be on board for this

Not played either of these, but I did play and complete 3 - the greatest Die Hard game ever.

Should have gone for the whole shebang.

Absolutely on board for this. Hopefully James McCaffrey returns to narrate (if they don't instead use the original audio).

Yup. Exactly the same here.

Would have been all over this if 3 was included

Holy gooseberry fool! I assumed Rockstar would be developing and I wasn't interested but I can't believe Remedy are the devs on this! Amazing!

I can't wait to see all the debris flying everywhere with current tech!

Was planning on playing through MP2 again since its introduction to the Xbox BC catalogue. Guess I will wait for this now. Should be great!

It's actually fairly short and well worth playing still.

3 came out in 2012, and it still looks fine. It doesn't need a remake. It also wasn't developed by Remedy, and is a total stylistic departure from 1+2,

Remaking just the proper Max Payne games make sense.

No doubt, i'm just not convinced I would be so keen to pick up the remake if I had played through a version of the game so recently. Recently I have had the same dilemma with Alan Wake (only played it for the first time about 18 months ago).

That hasn't stopped developers so far!

Anything pre 2020 is ancient, probably only runs at an unstable 92fps, and is therefore a load of gooseberry fool and needs remaking. FACTS.

Alan Wake was a remaster whereas this sounds like it's going to be a proper remake. Either way though dude, you're going to get to play an amazing game whether you play the original or wait for the new version :D

I have very fond memories of MP1 & 2 (though I seem to only have my original copy of MP1 now).

Maybe I should just play it. It will allow me to compare and contrast better.

Loved the first two. I have fond memories of both. Great style, atmosphere, and writing.

I played Max Payne 3 a few years ago and it felt so far removed from the previous two that it might as well have been a different game or series entirely. I'm not saying it was bad, but it didn't feel like Max Payne.

I'll be interested to see what they do with the remake, but I don't feel a particular need to replay the originals, even if they tweak the mechanics and give the visuals a makeover. Guess there'll be plenty of people that never played them though, so could be good for them.

Yeah, fair enough. I agree 3 still looks good, but I currently don't have a means to play it; so it would have been cool to have slightly prettied up version in this collection.

Thats encouraging to hear. Having only played a bit of the third and really liking it and assuming the series had peaked on the third; its good to know the general consensus is the first two are better.

3 is a very different game in terms of tone and character. For me the first two games are significantly more interesting to play, but your mileage may vary!
