Tip: spend substantially less than 50 mins clearing out the base.

I think this game really is brilliant, but doesn't feel like a story anymore and i preferred the older style where everything was a bit more linear.

I must say the graphics and framerate really are top notch on the ps4 and really make you feel you are playing a current gen game.

Just completed Back Up Back Down and Traitors Caravan both on extreme and S ranked them first go, even though on TC i strawberry floated up and went through the airport on the wrong side resulting in a battle but quickly came across the 2 truck support tanks which i fultoned and did the same with the truck before zigzagging my way out the hotzone away from the parasite unit.

Taking on Quiet on extreme (mission 40) hasn't worked out so well for me. 2 tranq shots and she vanished completely! Ran all over the show with DD and couldn't find her at all. Quiet indeed!

For the objectives, I made it rain and then sneaked up behind her with camo and punched her. For the S-Rank, I just sat in a tank the whole time and shot her whenever she appeared.

Making my way through chapter two and yeah, it's quite obviously not finished. There are next to no cutscenes, most of the missions seem only vaguely related to the over-arcing plot and the EXTREME and TOTAL STEALTH versions of previous missions are pure filler. Saying all that, the core gameplay is strong enough that I'm still enjoying it.

Plot thoughts too then (just completed Mission 38, Find the Info Tape): What a load of bollocks. I know MGS is known for its whacky plots but holy gooseberry fool the parasite stuff is grade A nonsense, like something a first year biology student would muck together if forced by his English Lit mate to contribute to a story-slam. It's just so...boring. Most of Code Talker's tapes are long strings of scientific terminology layered on top of each other with no real meaning, like Kojima spent 20 minute googling "parasite chemicals" and called it quits. It's mind numbing. I still have no idea who Skull Face was or what his plan was despite several tapes actually being called "Skull Face's plan!" At least Peace Walker had one central plot rather than the 17 TPP has going on.

The 30's are by far the worst missions in the game. Just completely uninspired, lazy and/or repeats. The one where you have to find the hidden microfilm is like some kind of joke mission.

Thankfully it picks up again in the 40's.

Just did the EXTREME Cloaked in Silence and Backup Back Down. The latter I did perfectly on my first go, then got myself killed by the tank that appears if you destroy all the vehicle (tried to capture it). Couldn't do it again. :( S ranked Quiet with the tank though, good call Chalky

Re: Backup, Back Down Start by the palace, park your horse in the road, extract the vehicle when it leaves the palace. Smoke your cigar til there's a minute or so left on the mission timer, call chopper and get in. Enjoy the S rank.

Ha, ta.

You're not supposed to be able to do all mission objectives in one go right? The "retrieve the film" quest has one where you have to finish the mission before reenforcements arrive, and another where you have to leg it halfway across the map to pick up a prisoner. Pretty sure doing both in one go is impossible.

What not to do on that mission..

Proper way using a Sniper Rifle :datass:

And this was an easy S rank first go!

S ranked Episode 34 (Back Up Back Down) but done it a better way than using a tank. Dropped off near the last stretch of road the tanks and AV's make their way to and used 1 decoy and captured everything bar the attack chopper at the end.

I think that's the one that I'm about to start. Saving it for tomorrow night. Feel like I'm nearing the end now but after finding out about the big story twist, the story all feels kind of meaningless.

I think I'm looking forward to clearing out the story missions so that I can go back to basics and have fun on the extreme missions.
