Is MGS 1 & 2 being included in this package or is it purely MGS 3? I'm hearing different things from different sources about this. Some places are mentioning different 'volumes' being released but I'm not sure if that's complete speculation at this point. I guess the 'Delta' naming hasn't helped.

There is a remake of MGS3 coming, not yet dated.

They are releasing a HD collection of MGS 1-3 in Autumn this year.

They announced two different things.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: A remake of MGS3 for modern consoles

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1: Ports of the original MGS1-3 games for modern consoles.

Original va is cool. Still very wary of this being worthwhile.

Posted this in the retro thread the other day, but it pretty much sums up how I feel about MGS remakes.

The problem I have with another remake of MGS (No matter how old the last one is now) is that for me it evokes a very specific type of nostalgia. It's as much about the look and "feel" of the game as it is the gameplay. Ultimately I wouldn't want them to tinker with it anymore than they already did with Twin Snakes. Ideally it should be a simple remaster with a few QOL tweaks. No major changes to the controls, no changes to cameras, the ability to switch back and forth between old and new styles etc.

Every game in the series has been very different from the ones before and each of them brings some new variation on it and I think it's important to retain those distinctions rather than trying to homogenise every game in the franchise to be the same. I know that's not what would be happening, but if I want to play MGS5 mechanics, I've got MGS5 for that. If I want a relatively short, focused, Tactical Stealth Action game I'll play MGS.

I'd rather see an MGS2 remaster before an MGS3 one as well.

I also don't have faith in anyone to recapture that "Kojima" feel properly other than Kojima himself.

Putting it here so I can be smug on release.

This will be gooseberry fool.

And I love Snake Eater.

Why is it called Delta and not 3?

Kind of excited for the remake though, at the worst it should be good unless they properly mess it up! Although think the vol 1 collection could be equally good, any word on what platforms that is on? Obviously hoping it leads to a vol 2 that’s got Peace Walker, MGS 4 and then MGS 5

I think they've picked Delta because it is represented by a three-sided character. But it's confusing because Delta is the fourth character within its alphabet...

I can kind of understand why they wanted to drop the number 3, but then just call it MGS Snake Eater? Rather then MGS Delta Snake Eater?

Delta also means change.

They're just trying to be mysterious and cryptic like Kojima but they're failing miserably.

If you count the original, subsistence and 3D, and ignore the HD remaster (which is subsistence with cut content), this is the fourth version of MGS3 so actually it makes perfect sense...

Never played the original so I don't really have a benchmark for this.

I'm interested if it's good basically.

I think its the colour palette thats slightly off putting for myself when watching the trailer again. Also, why does Snake look like he's a dinosaur in the Jurassic Park/World franchise where they come out of the shadows to spook someone?

Yeah Twin Snakes went a bit OTT with their cutscenes and the acrobatics snake could do.

Also, you know, the nintendo added in bits.
