Loving Metal Gear 2, still using a guide to keep me on the right track, but there is a lot less backtracking, or at least what I'd consider backtracking. Just had an annoying incident with a Snake, I did wonder why a Zoologist was on the Codec support team

I do now need loads more rations :(

Edit, used what little rations I had left trying to figure out how to defeat a boss that was somehow keeping Snake in a chokehold  This is definitely a big step over MG, loads of stuff from this carried over into Metal Gear Solid really!

Edit 2, just passed the 6 hour 30 mark and just reached Metal Gear, so guessing I'm on the final run, so I'll leave it for tomorrow.

Edit 3, MG2 finished :toot: Not sure when I’ll start MGS, but looking forward to it all the same.

Just seen the DF video, on Xbox the older 360 back compat versions of MGS 2&3 are better than this release due to Xbox's emulation doing a better job on textures and shadows.

Don’t think the issues will put me off waiting to start playing through the MGS games, can only hope they actually fix the issues soon.

It's wild that the x360 version from a decade ago is the better version  it's a real shame the 360 collection never got the original MGS so we would have a decent modern version of that, but at least you can buy it separately if you don't want to emulate the PS1 version (which somehow performs better over two decades ago than today). And it's even sadder that the PC community made so many fixes and QoL improvements for free in just a few days.

How much money did Konami budget for this? :| they surely spent more on advertisements.

95% of the budget went on the extras and advertising, it’s a shame, could have been so much better.

Excellent stuff I'll just redownloaded on XSX

Might buy MG1 on Switch though....

Made a start on MGS last night, well I read the master book (excellent read in my opinion), done a few VR missions this morning to get back to grips with the controls and watched the briefing, which I completely forgot was a thing

Will be starting the game properly soon :toot:

Edit, managed to put a bit of time into it, the enemies hit so hard on normal  got spotted and then was dead in seconds, just left it before the Revolver Ocelot fight, the only aspect where it genuinely feels old so far is the directional controls, rigid directions worked fine in MG & MG2, but not so much in a 3D game! Honestly still looks good on the Switch screen too. Playing the English (US) version for that 5fps increase :datass:

Edit 2, Ocelot down, now into the canyon….

Edit 3, trying to beat Raven in the tank, managed to hit him a couple of times with grandes but after that I’m having no luck  Done it now :toot: Chaff and then grenades.

Last edit for the day, just done the Ninja fight, this is still a brilliant game, plays great on the Switch too (as it should being a PSOne game), trying to be sneaky but I've had a few alerts already :(

Switch version of this can be had for just under £36 over on The Game Collections eBay store thanks to a 20% off code. Snapped up a copy myself

I think the analog controls are broken in this version so it's probably why you're struggling with movement

That’s a good saving already! Going to jump straight into one of the games?

I’ll fire them up and check them out, won’t start it properly until after I’m done with Mario RPG

Up to the second Sniper Wolf fight now, probably just my memory but I can’t remember the sniping controls being so slow, the first fight was bad enough but the small location made it bearable to lay down in the right position and then track her, not even seen her once in the second fight and keep getting shot

I did give in to the torture too, stealth camouflage is better than the bandanna, as I will be giving it at least a second run at some point.

In the second fight I've always hidden in the bottom right of the area out of sight and then used the nikita missiles to get her. Don't take a single hit 8-)

Now that’s a good shout! Will try that method when I load it up later.

Was wondering how you find her so went to YouTube, completely forgot you could enter first person view with the missile :fp:

Also equip the thermal goggles at the same time as using the missiles in first person to make it extra easy to spot her.

I did just that too!

The controls are still annoying me at times, the amount of times I’ve fallen off into the molten metal in the blast furnace

The bit that really annoyed me just after that is the pointless walls of security camera guns. Just rubbish.

They get more and more common too, annoying how few chaff grenades you can carry. Why the stealth camo is much better than the bandanna.

Vulcan Raven time now. Oh wait, dead using claymores before you even know it :datass:

Edit, up to the small backtracking portion now for the PAL Keys, can’t remember what’s in some of the earlier high card key level rooms though, don’t think it’s anything worth trekking back for.
