I’ve only really noticed it in a couple of games,

Animal Crossing, when fishing how much they rumble seems to give a further indication of how big the fish will be, not an exact thing though as more often than not it’s still a bloody Sea Bass

Eastward, again not much in this one but really nice at the same time! On the train it passes rumbles along like you feel when on a train and it goes over the connections between bits of track.

Playing handheld and having a hori left joy-con that doesn't have rumble makes the whole thing pointless for me!

Not convinced rumble is a good thing for a handheld, in some games I have turned it off because it can be really loud and distracting. I do wonder if it has contributed towards my right joy-con connection issues, where it will now frequently incorrectly disconnect as if slid out from the console. That only happens to my right joy-con, and it's the right joy-con that has rumble...

It is really annoying in Pokémon Sword Shield when you’re doing max raid battles, it’s almost ridiculously loud  Thats the one game I’ve turned them off in actually.

My right JoyCon does this too.

Rather than it being rumble's fault, I think JoyCons are just a bit crappy, right? My left JoyCon has unbearable drift and my right JoyCon disconnects randomly.

For sure, I just wonder if rumble has exacerbated the issue - it sounds plausible that rumbling might loosen the connection.

Anyway sorry for going off-topic, I thought this was the general Switch thread when I replied!

On the last boss now, I don't know if i've got what it takes to beat him. Getting him to his final form is simple enough, but the amount of pattern recognition required, combined with a lack of a certain late game item (which counters a certain attack he does very effectively) means I am starting to get very frustrated.

I could do some back tracking to see if i find any more of a "certain item" (3 is my max capacity), and a few more missiles wouldn't go amiss, but i'm not sure if ican be arsed to deal with the long load times.

I think there is probably a counter opportunity in that 3rd form that i have not spotted yet - that might make life a bit easier.

Also - why is that second stage of the first form so shite? When he has the orange glow around him? You can't hurt him directly, so you are just waiting for him to taunt and dodging some simple attack patterns. If i could restart the battle at the begining of the second form i would feel a lot more incentivised (sepecially as you basically get all your stocks back at the begining of the second form).

Anyway, tad frustrated right now, but i will perservere for a bit longer.

Long load times? I have the original powerless Switch, and I can't say I ever really felt the load times were a problem; and I got all the items.

The bits in the lifts, teleporters etc. They feel a bit long to me, especially when you exit out in to the "wrong" place because you are bad at map reading and have to get back in said elevator.

But yeah, no load times when an area has loaded in.

It's great that you didn't find the load times a problem though.

You definitely do 'have what it takes to beat him'! I guarantee you aren't as bad as I was. Once it clicks it really becomes easy. As much as I struggled, after I got him the first time, I redid the final battle 3 times and easily got him first time everytime. The sequence after the final battle is my favourite bit of the game so worth perservering. Anyway you haven't had this game long and you are already on the final boss - you're crushing it :D

So chain of events with the final boss;
1) He'll attack by throwing orbs - about 4 missile hits will destroy them and give you health and ammo. He'll also fill the screen with lasers- you just need to stay near him. Spam attack with missiles. When he fires the pink pulsing wave - morph ball to duck - then counter his attack and spam with missiles.
2) He turns gold - missiles don't work when he's gold (so don't waste them) he can only be defeated by counters. Avoid his attacks. YOU DON'T NEED TO GET CLOSE TO HIM FOR HIM TO ATTACK HE WILL COME TO YOU. Keep a fair distance away when his hand glows red he will lunge attack - press x to counter just before he hits - spam him with missiles. You'll need to do this a few times.
3) This is the hardest part! He forms wings and takes to the air but you attack him all the time, however during this stage there is no extra health nor ammo so when you run out of missiles you will have to laser attack. Lock on missile attacks. Morph ball when he woop attacks, after evading swoop lock on and fire, fire! If he flys above you he will try and pound the ground and squash you. When he's stationary and has a redline sight he will start chasing you with bullets - space jump around him ahead of his line of fire until he stops then shoot him. When he charges his blast attack get behind him lock on and fire! Repeat these dodges / attacks
4) Next he rips off his wings with his bare hands (badass 8-) ). This time he'll attack by firing massive sun like balls - just get out of the way morph ball and power bomb - this will give you loads of ammo / health. He uses his charge blast again but there is a delay so just space jump out the way. He'll do a speedy attack - space jump out the way. He'll take damage when you fire weapons. He'll attack the same way as in stage 2 parry the way when his hand glows red then fire during the counter. Do this a couple more times and you've beat him.

Hope that helps - you got this :D

Thanks Barnsy! - I'm looking forward to getting home to give this a few more attempts.

Interesting that there is a counter opportunity during the 4th stage. I will have to keep an eye out for that "tell".

Thanks again - i will report my progress accordingly.

The last boss really is a superb test of skill and learning the patterns, as I’ve said before, I went from getting absolutely battered within the first few seconds of the fight to (relatively) acing it on the run I beat him on :datass:

Ok, thanks guys - confidence levels are are slowly returning.

I have a firm time range to play within tonight (between 4.30pm - 6.00pm). It would be nice if I can at least master that 4th stage counter by then.

You can also dodge slide under all the airborne swooping/ramming attacks and power bombs immediately destroy the floating orbs which drop more missiles, health and bombs.

It's often quicker to slide than to go in and out of morphball animation. I kept forgetting that move exists.

You don't have to use missiles if your hands are tired - just pummel the fire button which can be fired almost constantly if you develop the reflex.

More interesting stuff there - thanks.

I was using the power bomb to destroy the sun thing that is launched in the 4th stage, but I only have 3 power bombs, and so when he fired a 4th one I had no defence and was not able to juggle both its patterns and his nonsense.

You can destroy them with missiles too but yeah they float over to you quickly enough so I'd hide over in the corner and the blast radius would get them close to me and then jump for the pickups.

I'd recommend it as its easier to keep yourself at almost full health while trying to time those counters and getting slammed, after that it's pretty brutal.

I only had 3 morph power bombs too. Once you do a successful counter on the 4th stage I think it automatically gives you another 3.

I never used power bombs on the final boss (I generally forgot about them as an option during battles!) so it's definitely doable without them, or with a limited number.

Awesome, thanks for this. Knowing it can be done with only 3 power bombs has caused my anxiety to recede a bit.

So I’m true video game tradition, I beat this first try today :datass:

File complete time was 8:40 with a 44% item completion. It’s only been 10 days since I first played so I can’t seem my stats yet, but I’m guessing my overall playtime was more than double that.

Great game, and actually a great final boss, just a slightly crappy 1st form. But I have not enjoyed a boss heavy game so much for a long long time.

And thanks guys for your words of encouragement that kept me going!
