Do you mean retro like old or retro like Retro Studios? I don't think the music and atmosphere looks up to the latter, but I do think this is looking increasingly good in its own way and I'm growing to like the simpler, sheen-y aesthetic (in an action-movie kind of way) and the quick and nimble gameplay.

Firmly on my radar and likely on my buy list now!

I mean the somewhat generic synth sound with its quick turns and general lack of dynamics is evocative of the older 8 and 16 bit motifs. Does go on and on and bit it's less "blip bloop ting ting" ambient emptiness like the deliberate vacuousness of the EMMI sections shown in previous "Treehouse" gameplay showings (saw some comments then that the music was boring).

It's not metroid prime tier especially with some of the better Nintendo composers. Some of those tracks are legendary.

Haven't been watching any of the videos to avoid spoilers, but currently on Samus Returns on my playthrough and getting quite hyped for it. The visuals aren't as bad as I remembered and it's still Metroid.

There's no need to be defensive - they weren't being mean to you, they're just asking you to use a spoiler tag next time (if you mention a boss etc).

Some people might want to participate in the general hype in this topic, but might be avoiding trailers and all that.

Guess it's a good job I've not seen that post then!

I think we're at that point when Nintendo are trying to rope in fans with a wider and less cautious net when it is close to the game's release and they are sure those things will actually appear in the game (Nintendo are pretty cautious of that these days). And they're probably going to take advantage of reappearances from series favourites (honestly I'm pretty surprised they did). So yes, please spoiler facts about character appearances, locales or story points etc moving forward. I'll try to edit in spoilers if I spot something.

I don't think that character has appeared in a game that wasn't a remake in a very, very long time).
