The key is that shine-sparking into the slopes puts you back into sprint mode so you can shine spark again.

Also remember you can sprint through doors of there open.

So you go to the corridor Above the slope room and run left and charge shine spark just at the at the end of the platform once you've hit speed.

Then you run through, slide under and jump down to face the slope and use the spark into the slope which then turns you back into a run, able to charge another spark...

Oh and I found it useful to press jump and Y at the same time (I think, might be a different combo!) which reliably releases the spark every time

Yeah it was just the shine-sparking into slopes that I didn't know, I could get the run just fine. Was too fixated on just maintaining the run, thinking that using a shine-spark would be the end. But seeing the phrase 'shine-spark chain' made me experiment with the slope and that's when I got it. And yeah pressing jump and Y at the same time is how I did it, it just seemed very messy lol.

Just did this last night. I won't lie, I went for a walkthrough. Absolutely mad that the game doesn't tell you anywhere (unless I've missed something?) that sparking into a slope goes back to a dash, then throws this at you. :x

I've got the screw attack now, and suddenly a bit of item finding exploration is possible. I really don't know how people managed to finish this the day after it came out, because I'm playing a couple of hours a day and I don't feel like I'm near the end yet.

I'm at the exact same part as you and it feels great to finally be able to smash those blue blocks that have been hampering my progress for ages.

Some of these shinespark (is that what the dash thing is called?) puzzles seem impossible and I think I'm going to leave the ones I can't immediately figure out and just watch a specific video guide when I want to mop them up.

I'm assuming i only have one more upgrade to find now before I'm at the end game and can access everything on the map.

Yeh I've definitely run across a few ShineSparks now which seem impossible with my current powers.

I've got all powers now and been told I can go for the end, but I'm going for 100% items before I do that.

Thank goodness the dog bits are done with. Easily the low point of the game for me and added nothing but frustration.

Stumbled across the Varia Suit just now, no idea if I’ve got it early or not (was just going back to explore but guess I’ve stumbled across it in the right order?), just stumbled across Kraid and was soundly beaten too

Can’t find anymore energy containers sadly so I’m going to just have to get good against this boss :datass:

Currently got 2 energy tanks and 2 part ones (which I’m hoping there aren’t too many of), just tried it again and got to the second stage so a small improvement!

That boss is in my opinion perfectly pitched. You start off getting absolutely mullered but I found my improvement rate was pretty drastic and satisfying.

Same here, I hated him at first but gradually got better and better. Loved beating him.

How is he even on the planet anyway?

Probably won’t get as much time to put into it today as I’d have liked but I do agree, it’ll be one of those bosses where when it clicks you just ace it and feels like a good achievement, although after the first boss and this one I think that might be the case for them all

There's a watery boss after that I don't feel the same about sadly. Slow and easy.

I really like the fights with the robot chozos, perfectly balanced, and you feel like a badass beating them.

Except for one I think all are possible with bread and butter shine-sparking once found, but as Bala says the game doesn't explain the details of its mechanics.

Some tips if wanted:
You can shine spark diagonally.

You can shine spark as a ball.

If you shine spark into a slope you'll revert to sprinting, and are able to re-spark.

You can go through multiple rooms to build up enough speed .

You can press jump and Y to guarantee a shine spark release, even mid-air.

You can use slides and wall jumping to maintain sprint momentum, and thus delay when you have to charge (and release) the spark.

Once you know how to use it working out the order and executing it is tough but rewarding in an old-school LiveDieRepeat way.
