The phase shifts are an absolute necessity for the bosses and really fun to use.

I like that the move set is big enough to allow for some of your own play style to influence how the fight goes. It'd be pretty tedious if you had to play in exactly the right way and no other way.

Yeah the move set is great and I end up developing the similar sort of agile and wear them down, duck and cover style I have in most games but then lose my gooseberry fool and take massive risks with occasional payoffs.

Interesting video about a few key aspects of the design philosophy of the game:

Spoilers obvs.

I can definitely get why for some this change in design would be a positive, and this video is a really good outline of why it can help with cognitive load type problems... but for me personally some of these changes to the design were something that I actually really didn't like about the game. The fact it keeps locking you in certain restricted sets of rooms with "points of no return" or changes to the level when you make progress was actually quite frustrating at times and took away that feeling of freedom and self guided exploration that, for me at least, is a highlight of the genre.

But yeah, sorry I hadn't spotted you had already posted the video, please forgive me oh merciful Devlin!

It is a really good channel, I've enjoyed a lot of the videos on there and it's relatively free of the usual YouTube nonsense that bogs down most channels! :toot:

Just finished Metroid Dread for the third time in 8hours and 59 minutes with 100% , I think this is the best I will do as I cant see me playing it again for a long time. I have loved it though.

Tried a quick run this weekend on normal and got 4:50. Enough to get the sub 8 hour picture unlocked. Need to work on not getting lost to get below 4 hours haha.

Speed running hard mode will be a bitch to do.

Didn't realise that was the last boss as was expecting some kind of giant monster boss which we sort of got. What an ending. I'll go back and collect what items I can be bothered to, I've never 100% a game besides Other M.
