It seems like a shitty law to be honest - the AM2R guys arent profiting off of it...
It's like, what if i drew a cute pikachu picture for a friend, and nintendo came, took it off me and then tore it up, declaring it illegal. That's what i think this is akin too. Maybe its more complicated (prolly is)... stuff like this makes me hate Nintendo (and specifically reggie) even more. I dont know whats going through the minds of the people when doing this, it's a labour of love no?
Though going on Twitter theres so many people that are defending nintendos decision so idfk whats going on.

It does suck that they stopped them. But Nintendo have always been like that with their IP.
As for letting them get so far, it could be they weren't aware of it until it started getting some attention. I also assume it's takes some time for the legal team to craft a response.
Ultimately it boils down to them having their own remake of M2 in the works though so I understand why they shut it down. At least it got a release before it was killed. It'll just take a little bit of digging to find it now is all. Same with Pokémon Uranium.

Fake edit: comes as in-stock when I go through the Nintendo email.
