If it's still a Switch game, they get to release it to a market of circa 130m users... but it probs ain't gonna look fantastic to have a game eight years in development releasing on seven-year old tech. If it is now a Switch 2 game... relatively low sales, at least initially.

Is it gonna be a Switch/Switch 2 dual release as with Breath of the Wild on the U/Switch?

It hasn't been in development for 8 years. It's been 6.5 years since originally announcement but 5 years in development at Retro. Given how fantastic Metroid Prime Remastered looked and how great their art direction is usually, I don't think them releasing it on 7 year old tech would be an issue. A dual release is definitely possible though, guess it depends on the release plan for Switch 2.e

Give them a break - first they need to make a wii u version, then port the deluxe version of that to the switch, before then making an even deluxier version for switch 2 :datass:

I'd be surprised if the game's announcement at E3 in June 2017 was the actual starting point for the game; with no work underway until exactly that point. Unless we get more clarity on this from Nintendo, I guess we can't say.

Regardless, development of that Metroid Prime 4 was at a completely different studio and the project was cancelled.

We know roughly when development at Retro started on their Metroid Prime 4 and that was 5 years ago.

When did Prime Remastered drop - February last year? Logic would have dictated that there was some co-ordination at play and we were going to learn more about Prime 4 within a reasonable time window after that, get the hype machine going etc.

From this I deduce that the February Direct (which my uncle who works at Nintendo seems really excited about!) is going to do the full reveal of this, along with a release date of Q2! :toot:

I think this will be a Switch/Switch 2 title, maybe launch window for the Switch 2 rather than outright release day.

Still hope we get MP2 Echoes and MP3 Corruption ported to the Switch, with a fresh coat of paint, even if its not quite as shiny as in MP Remastered, thats up there with one of the best remasters I've played, well from what I can remember anyway

The Metroid Prime Remaster nailed that "just as you remember it" feeling with some great QOL improvements to boot.

I think they are planning it out

Feb 2023: Metroid Prime Remastered
May/June 2024: Metroid Prime 2&3 HD (Few upgrades but not as many as remastered got)
March 2025: Metroid Prime 4

I can see this but I'm going to be bold and say they're going to reveal MP4 in a Direct on Feb7th for a September release and they'll shadow drop Metroid Prime 2&3 HD after it.

But then I've been predicting MP4 every Direct for a few years now :slol:

Shadow drop of 2 and 3 would be amazing. Last year's shadow drop of Prime was the most positive and wonderful thing to happen in gaming all year. Beautiful remaster, good price, available right now. Just perfectly done.

Wish my image sig would work

Have some faith! I predicted TTYD remake for ages till it finally happened, I'm not sure if it was the one direct I didn't mention it beforehand that it was actually announced at though

I can leave 3. I've not replayed it since launch but I don't remember it being any great shakes.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

It's definitely a series of diminishing returns, both 2 and 3 are quite a bit weaker than the original IMO

Echoes and Corruption are weaker than the original, but still both worth playing, more so if some element of the story does carry over into MP4. I always wonder if they'll bring Sylux from Hunters into it as the main antagonist.

Metro GameCentral has reported on a rumour that the game will release this year :o .

Whilst I do believe Metroid Prime 4 will come this year (Especially if Switch 2 isn’t until next year) Metro are sourcing that rumour from Zippo, one of the worst leakers (Far from the ‘reliable’ Metro mention) who basically throws everything at the wall and eventually something will stick.

I can't believe they called Zippo a reliable leaker, that's hilarious

He literally makes stuff up.
