If anything I think it'll be released sooner as a sort of consolation for Metroid fans. And if Prime 4 was originally going to be released this year or early next year then a gap needs to be filled.

From the looks of it, yes. I’ve no idea how many staff Retro actually have, enough to finish off development of one game (if the Star Fox Grand Prix game was actually real or not) while simultaneously starting Metroid Prime 4 development from the start?

They've probably just been helping Nintendo's various teams with other projects, instead of developing their own stuff.

They should use the extra time to make it even more pretty. And also add in more bonus unlockable skins, like the Fusion Suit.

The Fusion suit was in MP, though I think only MP and not its sequels.

Oh I know, so let's get it in the sequels.

They've hired the guy responsible for Art Direction at DICE.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020 ... t-director

It's been a while since we've heard anything on Prime 4, which I'm assuming is a good thing. I'm still not even expecting to see anything from it this year as I think late 2021 is a more realistic time slot.

In the meantime, if anyone is wanting that Metroid Prime itch scratched I can heartily recommend "Journey To The Savage Planet" (PC/PS4/XB and later Switch). It takes a lot of inspiration from the Metroid Prime games, even down to how you move about the world, but is far more tongue in cheek and a lot less serious.

It also has very light survival elements in that you need to gather resources to craft upgrades.

CDKeys have the PC version for around £20 (Epic Store) and it's well worth it.

I streamed some of it last night if anyone is interested.

Art Direction is usually something that the lead has tied down from the pre-production stages of a project...

Yeah it's still a long way off.

Though they haven't confirmed what he's been hired to do, or on what game. The assumption is that it's MP related, but it could be another game as well.

Yeah it could be something completely unrelated, and it's not unheard of for teams to be switched up mid development. But it does kind of play into the narrative that there is still a long time to go on this one.

Didn’t Journey to the Savage Planet get rated on Switch as well recently? I’m holding out for that to come to Switch

It is indeed coming to Switch. Probably with a price hike, but yeah.

Well worth playing too.

2022 at the earliest for this in my opinion, it's only been in development for a little more than a year.

Jedi: Fallen Order has been scratching my Metroid Prime itch lately, despite the different gameplay. The map system is near identical, the different worlds are varied enough to remain interesting, the regular supply of upgrades is satisfying, lore scanning is there but less hassle, etc.

Looking forward to eventually seeing MP4, but I don't expect we'll see it any time soon.

 Given Retro’s inability to release one game in the past six years, the idea they could be developing two concurrently makes me laugh.

Retro Studios have updated their Twitter banner with this image. *Obviously* this means that Prime 4 is close to release! :toot: .

It was actually the start of Saturday night by Whigfield.

Whigfield famously sampled it.
