Also just got that item, think a trip back to the Chozo Ruins is on the cards to try out my new toy!

Playing this really makes me want an Echoes/Corruption remaster too, really hope Echoes gets shadow dropped after the almost inevitable September direct now, although with how well this has been received I can see them giving the sequels a proper marketing push even if just for a month after they’ve been announced.

Word was they are releasing Echoes and Corruption on Switch but they're just uprezes not remasters which would be disappointing. Maybe they could get away with that for Corruption but Echoes is about as old as Prime.

That would be disappointing, did Corruption look much better than the first two games? I can’t remember  After the care they’ve put into this remaster, seeing a simple up-res would look a little lacklustre in my opinion.

Got the Wave Beam now.

I also got three artifacts so far and I'll have a look round some more before I go any further with the main objective.

I love the 2D Metroid games but I never got on fully with Prime, I got half way through it originally and did even worse with 2 and 3 bouncing off of them... I just ordered Prime Remastered, I hope I don't regret it, it's supposed to arrive tommorow, so I guess we will see.

Leaving it for today now. I’ve just picked up the Wave Beam, don’t think I’ve picked up any artefacts yet though…. Will have to browse the map for Wave Beam doors (one in Phendrana Drifts for sure which I’ll be able to access now I’ve got the Space Jump) and see where I might need to go, can’t remember if I’m honest.

I’ve got the Wave Beam also, this next section I honestly don’t remember so maybe I never got as far as I first thought back on the GC!

I’d forgotten you use the boost ball to activate some switches, was trying to use bombs instead :fp: making more progress now though, wonder how many missable scenes I’ve already missed

Edit, now got the Super Missiles. Now the Thermal Visor too, enjoying this a lot, I’m amazed how little it feels to have aged over the last 2 decades.

Just picked up the Spider Ball too :toot:

Once I’ve finished this I’m so tempted to load the Wii U up where I bought the trilogy on (for about £20 iirc, absolute bargain) and play Echoes and Corruption, but then I really don’t want to just in case they do come out on the Switch in the next 18 months

I’ve got back to Samus ship and going to start from there again tomorrow, can already think of a couple of places in Chozo Ruins where I should be able to put the spider ball to good use. Not even fussed if I don’t get many of the artefacts on my way through, more than happy enough to go back and traversing the environment is a relative breeze once you’ve got all the upgrades.

Stuck this on for a bit yesterday to see how it looked.

This is an excellent looking game. Still runs fluidly too.

The more upgrades I get the more I’m all fingers and thumbs with the controls

Also, does the game tell you that you can can jump in the morph ball? I didn’t think it was a thing :shifty:

They added it for the wii version apparently. Makes the double morph ball bomb puzzles trivially easy.

Yeah I did think that it sort of negates the morph ball bomb jump for the most part

Just got the Gravity Suit and then failed at actually getting out of the area (well I’d saved it post GS) to venture elsewhere. Those auto turrets hit hard don’t they? :dread:

Oh phew. When I played it this time I thought: Hang on, did I just miss this was in the original?

But now I know! Phew.

Though it simplifies the puzzle and that classic bomb timing, I still like the nice weight and playfulness of the jump

Naturally picked up a few artifacts on my way and I'll see where the game nudges me to pick up next couple but I'm probably going to consult a guide for the rest.....

Struggled with Omega Pirate so not looking forward to whatever the last bosses are!

The artifact temple gives you very explicit hints as to which exact room each artifact is in, so you may not need a guide.

Thanks you were right. Wasn't looking forward to it, but quite enjoying the artifact hunt (its a bit like Wind Wakers Triforce shard quest that feels a bit like filler but I quite like it).

Because I've spent so much of this game getting lost - I now know the map quite well, where everything is and which elevators connect to which other section etc - plus I'm quite powerful and have access to all areas so its quite fun moving around the map and finding these artifacts.

At this point, I really like the overworld map! The way it fits together and flows is super clever AND.....its not that big! I wonder about MP4; like is MP1 map more like Zelda Links Awakening overworld (small but full so feels big) and in terms of scale will MP 4 be more like Zelda BotW. Way bigger but obviously still all tight corridors and gated progression. I can't see modern gamers putting up with some of the things in MP in a new game - MP4 will probably have more save points, map waypoints and fast travel (or at least flow more like dread so that traversal becomes less of a struggle) which might allow for a bigger and more packed world.

p.s. Sorry I naturally use a lot of Zelda comparisons when talking about metroid :fp:

That's one of the best parts of Metroid for me, marauding around the map near the endgame to hoover up the remaining items, OP as hell, annihilating all and sundry that dare to stand in your way.
