If any acquisition is a safe bet then I would say Obsidian is as they are so well renown for their RPGs. If I was in charge I would have them create a brand new single-player game that can become a huge draw associated with the Xbox brand and strengthens their unique value. What I hope they don't do is make an RPG using an existing Microsoft franchise, even if it is Halo, as that would risk turning them into a studio for hire.

Pillars of Eternity sold well so I've got no idea why the second game didn't manage to do so well. But a third game still has potential for PC owners and maybe this could be turned into Xbox's own version of Skyrim.

I don't know too much about inXile except that the Bard's Tale has received middling reviews - what's interesting is that Microsoft said they will keep both RPG developers separate entities.

I would be excited.

But then I remember what they have done to Rare. So I can’t get too excited until I see what their next final product is like.

I wonder what game the "bridge" image represents for Playground Games? And the "fighting on a ship" image for Obsidian?

Playground started a separate project and an entire new office building for it's new 'Open World AAA game' and Eurogamer have said it's Fable 4. It'll be a launch Xbox 2 game or could be later than that.

That fantasy land image I think is the first official reference from Microsoft that Playground is working on a new Fable.

I reckon an Autumn 2020 or 2021 release date -is three years too long until the next Xbox?

I think it's becoming clear that the next gen will start Q4 2020 as Microsoft had a chance at this show to announce a next gen for next year but didn't and I suspect they would want more than a year of build-up for a new machine. I expect an announcement some time after next years E3.

Microsoft bought InXile not least because they liked a game they've been working on for a while not yet announced. Interview in link.

Is that an official image? Because if so, that's pretty solid proof that Playground are working on Fable 4.

Considering Hitman 2 has had a bit of a tough time in sales (physical at least), being snapped up by MS could be good for them.
