Unless they didn’t have an Android phone or tablet.

It's been on IOS & PC for a while as well.

Oh, great. Maybe they should update the official website that explicitly states the requirements include an Android device.

Still struggle with the latency issues on this on my setup, it's just too noticeable to play anything fast paced or relying on responsive input. By comparison I signed up for the Stadia free trial the other day and it was a night and day difference in this respect - no discernable input lag whatsoever and the image quality was flawless.

Stadia is absolute gooseberry fool in so many other ways but the core tech still feels like it has advantages beyond what Microsoft are offering at this point

Beginning September 15, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can play more than 100 games from the cloud on their Android phone or tablet. Cloud gaming will launch in beta for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in 22 markets to ensure stability as we scale the feature to millions of gamers.

When cloud gaming launches as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, players will have access to more than 100 high-quality games playable from the cloud, including Minecraft Dungeons, Destiny 2, Tell Me Why, Gears 5, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and more. And as we’ve committed to providing day-one access to new titles from Xbox Game Studios as part of Xbox Game Pass, it’s our intent to make those same games available in the cloud from the day they release. We’ll have more to share about the full catalog of games as we approach launch.

All the experiences you expect on Xbox and your gaming profile travel with you on mobile, including your friends list, achievements, controller settings, and saved game progress.

XCloud works with a PS4 controller too so....technically, on an Xbox platform you can play next gen games with a PS4 controller. :shifty:

Glad to see 8BitDo getting that Microsoft money, but I wish it was the version with the grips.

Has anyone tried the kiri? I bought one of those things that holds your phone and controller together. It works fine but it's a bit of a faff.

They ran a beta on iOS but it was limited to one game. Basically, App Store guidelines say you can't release a game which gives access to loads of other games, or something like that. This held up Steam streaming for a year, and that was streaming from a device in your house to another device in your house, rather than full on cloud streaming.

So unless Apple decide to stop being annoying idiots, it's not coming any time soon, sadly.

I dug out my old Pixel 2 and charged it up last night. In a way i wouldn't mind it being on that old phone as i could leave it connected to a PS4 controller + grip that i already have. The only thing is the battery is completely knackered on that phone and i'm guessing xcloud will be a huge battery drain, so i might only get 45 minutes on a whole charge. I wonder if there are any phone battery cases that are slim enough to still fit in the PS4 grip.....

What if Microsoft launch the rumoured streaming box that can run Xbox Game Pass?

Harry Bizzle wrote:So unless Apple decide to stop being annoying idiots, it's not coming any time soon, sadly.

Wow. I didn't know that. Because of the iOS testing I assumed it was definitely coming but was launching on Android first because the service was fully working.

I have the PowerA Moga grip, which is pretty good. Only think that I found annoying was constantly having to sync to the phone, then back to the Xbox again. In the end I just bought another controller to use exclusively with the phone, and I just leave it attached to the grip.

I wouldn’t even mind this if it didn’t turn my Xbox on every time I want to sync to the phone!

Personally, I’ve found xCloud on phone a bit cramped - these games often aren’t designed to be played on a 5 inch screen. I’m thinking tablets, smart TVs and laptops will be where it really hits it’s stride, which you have to assume is where they’re headed with all of this.

If they do keyboard and mouse support for games which are on Game Pass for PC it would be great. I could finally do some gaming on my Mac. Though the lag might be a bit too much when you’ve got mouse movement involved.

The XSX controller is "implementing Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) so that pairing to these devices is much easier. The new controller also remembers multiple devices so switching between them is more seamless. And a USB-C port allows gamers to play and charge with a modern cable that’s more readily available."

Will help with some issues.

I could see late 2021 for Windows and Smart TVs once they've put the XSX blades in so you can play at least 1080p. Maybe XB1 & Lockhart as well. IOS who knows when, depends if MS can arrange a deal or Apple are forced into it.

Maybe then they'll announce a cheaper Game Pass/xCloud and/or a xCloud only subscriptions.
