Oh, right so I couldn't for instance play AoE 4 on it then?
Is it not a streaming service then? I'm all sorts of lost here :shifty: .

Top tip here kids. Don't get old :fp: .

It’s a streaming service, but only if the game is on the service. To be able to play anything you would need something like shadow.tech which is a full fat pc you can install any game you own on and then access that from whatever device you want,

Could see me playing some PC Game Pass games on my iphone.

I have gamepass ultimate but have never considered the PC stuff as all I have is a Chromebook?

Most likely a stupid question but can I play PC games via gamepass with my Chromebook?

“If” there is an Android app you may be able to install that and play whatever games are available to android devices.

Insiders are testing about 100 games on Android at the moment and have been since last year -

The only games I want are the Total War games and Age Of Empire 4 so if I can get to play those then happy days but if not then oh well.

Finally, today we’re announcing that this September, in supported countries, we’re bringing Xbox Game Pass and Project xCloud together at no additional cost for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. With cloud gaming in Game Pass Ultimate, you will be able to play over 100 Xbox Game Pass titles on your phone or tablet. And because Xbox Live connects across devices, you can play along with the nearly 100 million Xbox Live players around the world. So when Halo Infinite launches, you and your friends can play together and immerse yourselves in the Halo universe as Master Chief—anywhere you go and across devices.

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/07/16/ ... of-gaming/

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will be the only way to access xCloud streaming at launch, but it won’t always be limited to Microsoft’s top subscription tier.

“Over time we will continue to expand how we introduce streaming as part of the platform, and playing games that you own that aren’t part of the subscription,” says Microsoft’s Xbox chief Phil Spencer in an interview with The Verge. “For launch we’re putting it in Ultimate for no additional cost. We think it’s a good audience for us to start with, and it’s an audience that plays a lot of games.”

While everyone accessing xCloud game streaming in September will do so through a phone or tablet, Microsoft isn’t detailing which devices will be supported just yet.

“We want to bring xCloud, eventually, to every screen that someone can stream games to. Right now we’re just saying mobile,” says Spencer. “There are discussions going on and we’re working through things. We’ll talk more specifically about which mobile devices through August and the September launch.”

Project xCloud won’t even be the final name for Microsoft’s game streaming service. “This isn’t the official name, but you should think about it as Game Pass streaming or Xbox streaming, something like that,” explains Spencer. “We actually don’t have the final name just yet, but it won’t be Project xCloud.”

Stupid question time again.
Does this mean they may do an app on the Xbox so you can play the PC gamepass games?
Feel free to call me an idiot if that makes zero sense.

I doubt it, especially as some will need KB + Mouse.

As well as the mobile devices etc, does this mean that there will be the option to play a streamed Series X-spec version of Halo Infinite on an OG Xbone? For me, this is the big question.

Already got 3 years of Ultimate, excellent! :D

Will be really handy for trying out stuff on Game Pass before downloading, or continuing playing something when not at the Xbox.

The not changing the blades in Azure over to Series X until next year (they currently Xbox S blades)so after that I'm sure that'll be an option.

Wait, so I'd be able to stream fully XSX exclusives using the PC Game Pass App and download those that are PC/Xbox exclusive through regular Game Pass?

Bit of a game changer that, although it makes the XSX console itself less alluring than chucking that money onto a new GPU or possibly PS5.

I'm not sure how it's a game changer, if you have Gamepass on PC you'll be able to download all the games you want to stream too. I don't see the difference in what you have now. XSX is less alluring to folk with a powerful PC yes, but that's always been the case...

All Xbox first party exclusives coming to XSX are coming to PC also...

MS don't care what device you play their games on once its their games and preferably using Gamepass.

It's this bit I didn't know, I thought there'd be something you could only play if you had an XSX console.

Yup Halo Infinite is launching on PC too! :)

As will Fable, Forza 8 and the rest going forward...

The same place it was before, really. Anyone who had even the slightest interest in XCloud could have tried it out months ago. A catchier name and some advertising will probably draw a bigger crowd, but it's already a better service than anything Google offers.

If I'm being really harsh - it probably leaves it as yet another failed Alphabet/Google project that was a result of them trying to branch out. Stick to search engines and harvesting people's data, guys.

Either Google will give up or they will pull out their chequebook and start buying up exclusives. They may even do a Sony and fund some long-lost sequels we all wanted. Imagine if Google announced they had paid Sega for a Skies of Arcadia 2 for example.

Bloodwych 3 would be nice. A new Powermonger game would most likely become Game of the Milenium but that's being held back because other publishers fear that gamers may never buy another game again if they play it.
