You could always fly over to Wexford to see the beaches that Saving Private Ryan used. :slol:

Pfft. Landing on beaches is no challenge. Try landing here.

That was a month and half ago on the PC version. No idea if it's fixed in updates, but I found it funny so had to screenshot it. I forgot about it until last night, however. Somewhere in the Swiss Alps, I think.

Just managed to have a quick go on this this morning before the kids got loud and annoying.

Holy shiz it is difficult
Also, my game doesn't look as good as everyone else's game :( I've got a series X, and using the live data streaming mode.

Image

Also, how the flying strawberry float do I invert the camera controls.

Looks rough!

Maybe slow/poor connection and so struggling to feed the data in?

There is a camera menu. It’s pretty buried but that’s because there is a lot of it.

Shouldn't be the connection, I'm 300 down / 300 up.
I'll try it again later. Maybe the Isle of Wight is just behind in graphics

This is such a great game to just chill out with. I've taken a break from my world tour thing and just jumping up to different locations now. The helicopter update will be huge for the virtual tourism aspect as even the smallest, slowest planes can go a little too quick to have a proper look at some stuff.

What camera is everyone using? Cockpit or external? I keep swapping between them for realism vs sightseeing.

I use external, the cockpit view is so limiting.

I can imagine if I was playing it properly, that would be the one I'd use. But I just like seeing the sights.

There was a game on the Wii U where you got to explore various places and swing the pad around to look 360 degrees. Honestly think Id be happy if flight simulator was just that.

This really is great to have and I can't wait for the helicopter.

I'm mostly sightseeing, so I use the external camera.

See I’m trying to play it as a sim, but yes, the view is so limiting I end up just seeing the sky and none of the land below it.

It’s very easy to fly all the light aircraft I have tried (even with all pilot assists off), so I guess I might as well stick to the external view for the reasons you mention. Maybe the bigger planes pose more of an issue? I can almost nose dive every plane for several seconds before getting the stress failure message.

If you hold LB you can adjust the cockpit camera position. LB+R trigger raises the camera higher in the cockpit - you get a better view of the ground, but have to look down to see the instruments. Then you can save your preferred view with LB+B, and load it again with LB+Y.

Cheers, yes I have been having a thorough play with the cameras. I find the “raised camera” position in the menus is quite good. But you still can’t see much unless you are constantly offset to the side of what interests you and then rolling slightly towards it. It becomes quite a skill though! But then I snap to an external “gamey” view and I see how much I am missing. I think I will use external and then switch to cockpit when I see something that interests you - the perspective of the cockpit view really adds to the topographical effect of that makes sense.

That’s actually good news. I feel like the challenge is quite low when fear is absent, so this make make things more rewarding. Time to do a “Sully” (which I watched last night)

Normally I'm not going direct, but doing sight seeing, so didn't realise it before. Done a few direct flights over ocean now though and sometimes it was taking me almost twice as long.

Preparing to take off from Newfoundland just before sunrise, then seeing it come up not long after take off.

Picked this idea back up now it's on Xbox of trying to flight around the world, one small flight at a time. After arriving in Nantucket last September on PC, today just did the short, 25 minute flight to Martha's Vineyard. Next stop is New York!
