I assume the whole team has been assembled to do the Luton update.
It's such a picturesque wonderland.

The level of detail in this is just nuts!

Me flying London to Bristol (and getting lost and ending up landing in Coventry).

I’ve been amazed by how processor heavy this is. It’s not well optimised for core numbers and means it’s pretty choppy in airports (3600x).

It will be interesting to see how it looks and runs on series x, I suspect they will have to target 30FPS.

In this game in particular yeah, I can live with 30fps but I'm sure they said they are still optimising as they go on and they will be for years to come.

It is an insane game. It is really tough though. I can take off/fly and Land. I haven't got a scooby how you land properly, by following a traffic pattern and doing the proper Air Traffic Requests. :D

It really could be a fantastic showcase game.
Just the opening credits scenes (if they still bother with those) that are shoved on repeat in stores is going to be awesome.

It's going to put my TV to a real test and I'm hoping for good things  .

I’d be amazed if this runs at 4k on series X, unless they really mess with the level of detail.

It’s a tough one to scale. As the training missions are middle of nowhere and you can get high FPS. As soon as you hit airports or big cities the frame rate tanks.

Thinking about it, the biggest challenge might be mapping all the controls to gamepad. Flying is ok with the pad, but still use a bit of KB. But for Nav aids and the wider menu it’s going to be tough. I suspect you’ll need to push a button to open up the menu which will probably pause flight. Then push the button to go back to flight.

I suppose it depends on how optimised the game is for the SX hardware.
I think one of the limiting factors so far has been that games have been made for last gen and then just upgraded and that doesn't use all the extra oomph available.

We'll see.

Maybe they can release a flight hat that reads thought just like in the film Firefox?

The only problem being you have to "Think in Russian!".

I thought I read that even on PC it had a kind of beginner/arcades option to use a gamepad.

Like I say, you can play with the pad fine (I’m using one), especially from third person view. It gets clunky in 1st person on bigger planes as you have to press control+num for a certain panel view, or use the mouse to look and click controls. Flaps are F5 and F8. Landing gear left click. Auto pause is ‘pause’ on KB. Throttle is managed by A/B or F2/F3, but these could be triggers. They aren’t like racing games though. You set engine revs in increments.

I’m very much a beginner. But rudder and elevator controls use Y+d pad but often I use the keyboard. There is a menu system for ATC/weather/nav aids/and some others so while flying I access via mouse.

There are a lot of controls basically. Be interesting how they make it work on just a pad.

If Elite is anything to go by holding a button down more or less remaps the D pad and shoulder buttons for each face button.... it’s tricky but with Elite it became second nature after a while...

There is a 1GB update for the the game before you can download the update.

Dear Microsoft, please roll all updates in to the same strawberry floating files, stop making me update the game in the marketplace app then start up the sim and have to update the game while in the game marketplace as well.

In game update is 23GB.
