Going by that Digital Foundry video I really need to get a GPU upgrade. My GTX1080 is just not going to cut it for the level of fidelity I want. It looks utterly gorgeous though and I'll still be playing this day one I think.

Gonna give the HOTAS a good work out.

There's just something so great about flight sims visuals.
Even the early wireframe stuff that did so much with so little. Now we have visuals that are good enough to just do sightseeing tours around the world it's pretty amazing that a relativively inexpensive console will be able to give visuals that until only recently were confined to the most hardcore PC players with maxed systems is pretty great.

I wonder if I could rig my Steel Battalion controller up to the PC and use it for this. :D

Reviews - 94% on metacritic - https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/micr ... ic-reviews

IGN - 10

Microsoft Flight Simulator is legitimately incredible. It's difficult to fully describe how amazing it feels to jump into a plane and have the freedom fly to and from literally any place in the entire world. The base game's 20 included aircraft feel like more than enough for even hardcore aviation enthusiasts, and the ability to adjust the assists to tailor the experience to whatever skill level you desire makes it suitable for anyone looking to fly the friendly skies from the comfort of their home. The real-world mapping data, however, takes Microsoft Flight Simulator from being just an impressive game to the most awe-inspiring simulation I've ever experienced, in spite of its less than stellar load times. Seeing famous landmarks, landing at the world's most recognizable airports, or just touching down in a remote landing strip in South America is mind-bogglingly cool and an absolutely unparalleled way to virtually explore our world.

Eurogamer - Essential

Like many players who'll be drawn to this most attractive of games, I can't claim to be an expert in the discipline of flying, nor in the simulation of it. But Microsoft Flight Simulator is the kind of thing that can make an enthusiast of you, or rekindle a passion that's been lying dormant. I've started to work over my own checklists, and map out my own flight plans. I now can't bring myself to spawn on a runway, and instead enjoy getting lost in the rhythm of procedures as you set off from your stand. Over the past month or so, Microsoft Flight Simulator has sent me on a spiral of discovery, exploring the world as well as the often mundane, frequently magical detail of air travel, my appreciation of what Microsoft and Asobo have achieved growing all the while. When it all comes together, this thing can be as uplifting as flight itself.

Press Start - 10

Microsoft Flight Simulator is a game that you have to play to understand just how incredible of an experience it is. It's an incomparable adventure that consistently surprises and delights. The game provides you with all the tools necessary to conquer the unthinkable task of flying the plane. Asobo has laid an incredible platform that will provide hours upon hours of joy for both casual gamers and flight experts alike, and it's only upwards from here.

I imagine it'll be pretty decent.
It'll be a good game to act as a bench test between the SX and PC version.
Obviously you'll be able to push the PC version beyond the SX version but it'll be interesting to see how well it performs.

Does the high spec PC requirement and no current console version, combined with availability on Game Pass make this the most widely available, yet inaccessible game ever?

127Gb install for my PC. That's the standard edition.

Annoyingly won't let me preload, just pre preload...

Anyone know if this will unlock at midnight or at some random point tomorrow? Trying to understand if I should wake up at midnight and kick things off.

Spec wise it should get it running at medium, which isn’t too bad from what I’ve seen.

This seems the kind of game that finally makes good use of my NVMe SSD. 127GB. :dread:

Given that this in in Game Pass I'll almost definitely be giving it a whirl at some point even if I have no real interest in flight simulators!

150GB though :dread:

BTW, switching your Windows location to New Zealand works if you want to get this opened and installing now.

Do you have to quarantine for 2 weeks if you land there?

I'd love to try this, but there's no way I'd be able to get it running great so I've got to wait for the Series X version. I could try, but sorting through already installed games, then sitting through a 150GB install only to then have it not able to run, or worse - lag horribly - doesn't seem worth the effort. Least with the Series X I know it would run to the best of its ability once installed.

Then again, since it's on Game Pass, it'll probably be able to played on the cloud, so I could easily give it a demo then.
