I think the UK Competition Watchdog still has to sign off on the deal for it to go ahead too. Consultation is running until 20th July with a decision deadline of 1st September.

Well, what they can do is stop the merged company trading in the UK.

Obviously that's worst case and unlikely to happen though.

After watching a vid on it, there’s a small chance it’s August but more likely early next year possibly before the years end…

Biggest acquisition in gaming history, first country in the world to green light it so thought it would be worth posting, in a thread about the acquisition, but more fool me.

Saudi was hardly not going to approve. I suspect there was an incentive of some kind to start the ball rolling and then attempt the snowball with ‘well Saudi and x,y,z approved it, why not you!?’

I’m also not sure Saudi are the right arbitrators of taste when it comes to looking after people.

Unfortunately, I don't think this deal is in any danger of not being approved anywhere.

No idea. By the sounds of it the deal isn’t being done this year. So I doubt it. I also reckon it would lose them a good chunk of cash from £60 a pop?!

Someone should do some investigative journalism with the Saudi Arabian regulatory authority and find out. I'm sure they're open to questions.
