I would be hugely surprised if a new Halo trilogy encompassed a different gameplay style in its second and third parts. Saying that, I'd like to see some sidesteps in the series like Halo Wars (which I didn't think was fair to count as one of the seven Halo games on 360, just like how you can't count Mario Sports Mix alongside Galaxy).
I hope we get a different enemy this time around, though I have a feeling we'll still see the Covenant. Full of character and iconic as they are, a new enemy would help put 343's stamp on the new games.
And this whole argument stemmed from Rik using Mario and Zelda as a defense against people's claims that there were at claims of "yet another" Halo game. As I've said, it's a bit of an odd way to go about criticising or defending a franchise to bring in another company's games on another machine. People weren't really trolling Halo until Rik started going on about Mario and Zelda being milked, and there only being 2 Halo games on the 360, or that SMG 2 was a cut-and-paste sequel.
I'm not actually bemoaning Halo 4 at all, to be honest. I knew it was coming and I'm glad I saw something of it (albeit a CGI trailer). I'm not particularly bothered about Halo CE - I played it recently and the campaign was as good as it ever was, and I didn't notice the graphics, really - but I'll no doubt get Halo 4 on launch.
I'd like to see what 343 have planned for Halo 4, though.
