I'm tempted by this but my backlog is getting ridiclous at the moment. Took the punt on Ultimate Alliance 3 on the Switch and have only just begun playing through that and I may struggle to justify another game :slol:

When you figure out what it is they're looking for, they're a lot of fun. And because of the way they're unlocked, you're getting drip-fed them throughout which is really good as well, it doesn't overwhelm you.

Just bought it on the Epic Games store using a 25% off coupon.

Edit: I can play it with some caveats, mainly the mouse controlling the camera in the free roaming sections causing a few issues with navigation, Its cumbersome but workable (I see there's a fast travel system so I'll use that whenever possible).

I already love the combat system though.

Finding the abbey sections tedious, mainly due to trying to use the onscreen keyboard to navigate while every movement of the mouse moves the camera to some hideously awkward angle. I've found a workaround to reset the camera angle by going into the pause menu and back out so it's not too bad but I really wish there was a keyboard only control scheme for the PC version as there's no real need for mouselook. Also why is there no bloody minimap?

The combat sections are thankfully far easier to control with the keyboard and mouse and are a joy to play.

GOTY contender for me.

I will however be incredibly annoyed if Firaxis use the free roaming bits for the next XCOM game.

Beginning to see why there's so many positive reviews, it's so much fun to play.

Found I can exploit a 'bug' where my onscreen keyboard carries on holding down a key to move forwards while looking around, it's made the Abbey sections a bit less annoying to navigate.

Tried switcing on Ray Tracing just to see how badly it slows the game down and while it seems to have made load times rather sluggish it doesn't seem to have massively impacted performance so I'm leaving it on because it looks lovely.

Had multiple crashes on this yesterday which apparently is something to do with the 2K launcher but I can't see to find a way of disabling it for the Epic Games launcher version, really wish I'd bought it on Steam now.

So at the final mission before had to leave for Christmas

Can you not level friendship with hulk? Makes some sense given hoe late you get him. He’s pretty squishy too

The game will now not run for some reason, tried all the obvious things like updating graphics drivers to no avail.

Edit: fixed by disabling RTX.

PS5 version of the Enchanted Edition is £43 at TheGameCollection, personally waiting until it hits £30 but cheapest I think this edition has been

It's pretty fun! Although two hours in now and I've not been able to play as Magik which is knocking it down a couple of points.

Currys are currently selling the PS5 version of this for £39.99, and I got a £50 Currys voucher from work for free, so have taken a punt on this. Used the leftover to get Pokemon Arceus for £27.

And done - very good but the last mission commits the sin of being a 4 phase battle with no checkpoints/saves.

An absolutely pleasant surprise, but I'm under no complusion to try new game plus. It makes you get good with everyone throughout, which oddly makes playing again less enticing.

Game consistently crashes if I try to use Magik's reinforcement card.

The only crashing issue I had was with the hero missions, so I can't help you with that sorry. Gonna start NG+ on this shortly to try and get the last achievement - this game is worthy of a total completion IMO. Buggy and janky as all hell but just really moreish.

I seem to have subconsciously customized the player character to look like Clarke from The 100 (her latter seasons look with the shorter hair and leather jacket).

Honestly if the game had ended with act one that would still have been a decent game length. This is massive.

I thought that was going to be the end - it felt like it was building to a climax
