I think he means the news of the game possibly being a PS3 timed exclusive, I doubt anyone truly hopes this game will be rubbish.

To be honest, if the game reviews really well, and is out on the PS3 first, I'm hardly going to wait for a version that is the same.

It seems EA are certainly warming to the ps3, giving superior versions of burnout paradise, earlier dlc and even fifa 09 is going to have some exclusive modes, this news makes it even better for ps3 only users!

I can't imagine that E.A are doing this (if indeed it is true) out of the goodness of their hearts; nor do I think that it reflects a general "warming" of E.A's attitude towards the PS3 either. There will be a quid pro quo in there somewhere if the news is true.

As for the comments of Jimmy Shedders as quoted by Cooldawn earlier, surely "multi-format FTW" would mean that being released at the same time on both formats is preferable to any kind of exclusive, timed or otherwise?

I'm not all that interested from what I have seen of the game so far to be honest, but the less 3rd party exclusive content the better as far as I'm concerned: it broadens a game's immediate reach and minimises the potential for fanboyism.

I dont know why but ever since I bought a 360 I have preferred games on it. The machine just feels better, much more quality and feels it can do much more than the PS3. I'm glad to be getting GTA DLC on the 360 first.

Well, I don't think I'd agree with that. It depends which games you are playing as the time-consuming nature of coding games for the PS3 often meant that the 360 iterations were slightly better. Playing Motorstorm or MGS4, however, I don't get the feeling that the 360 as a machine is better than the PS3. By the same token, I don't buy into the PS3 hidden-potential theory either, as its performance bottlenecks have been well documented here and elsewhere.

In truth, they are pretty much equal as far as I can tell, with the PS3 versions of games now matching the 360 ones as developers become more familiar the the hardware and/or apportion relatively more development resources to the PS3 versions of multi-format games.

Anyway, back on topic - er, curious decision. One presumes Sony's lobbed a bit of money EA's way, perhaps because its own line-up for the rest of the year (in terms of exclusives at least) is looking a little anaemic.

Either way, not an issue for me. If it's coming first to PS3, then I'll buy it for PS3.

Stop posting in this one-note fashion, or I'll be passing your name to the mods more quickly than Usain Bolt runs the 100m.

I think there is probably a good deal of truth to this, if indeed the news is true.

As for the game, I think I'll be taking a wait and see approach. My fear from the videos is that it could be a very linear experience that gives off only the impression of freedom. I'd like to be wrong about that though, as the game does look very interesting otherwise.

That would certainly be the most ideal situation but, in context to this, people with both formats can still play a timed exclusive game.

WIN WIN!!

That's a good point - it does seem like there's a prescribed path through the game. Nice to see someone try something different though - even if it's the first game that looks like it could potentially give me motion sickness (watched some footage the other day and felt a little queasy, and I've never had that in a game. Though it may just be because I'm feeling like crap in general at the moment).

If this news is correct it seems weird that Sony didn't mention it as part of their presentation at Leipzig as it could be quite a major coup for them if it does happen.

"The machine just feels better" is a strawberry floating stupid thing to say about any console. Quantify it or strawberry float off.
