Got it tonight. Very cool bit of kit. Kind of a shame the app for it takes a subscription but oh well.

It was that and the inability to use it in conjunction with a phone case that led to me ultimately choosing not to pick up one of these. But as a Game Pass user they do hold a certain appeal.

The app is optional at least, but it is a very good games launcher. In their defence if they accommodated cases it would mean a far less snug fit. The phone will not budge while it’s in there.

Finally got past the bit in Grimvalor I was stuck on using it!

Yes, I completely understand the requirement. It's more that it made me realise the "faff" or putting on / taking off the phone case each time I want to use it would be equivalent to just walking across the room and getting the Switch of it's dock when I want to play something hand held.

I'm sure it's a great choice for many peoples requirements though. The build quality looks really good.

...it's launching "globally from today"; here's the trailer:

What is the obsession with making 'healthy lifestyle' mobile games using Nintendo IPs, Pikmin has been crying out for a proper modern day sequel for years and they go and make this :dread:

If you're going to go for a walk, just go for a walk without looking at your damn phone every few seconds.

It’s pretty terrible. It’s only saving grace is using your Mii as the game avatar and I really miss those little guys.

Even Niantic must know they cannot take the Pokémon Go template and apply it to everything. Pokémon has been ‘catch ‘em all’ for 25 years so it lent itself well to that sort of game (and it has one of the best communities of any video game, mostly because it’s IRL) but others just haven’t worked.

That said I was quite looking forward to their Transformers game but glad it got canned. My idea of using a Google Lens sort of system to scan IRL cars and have them transform into robots before you in AR was much better than theirs.
