So is this going to contain all the QoL features MHW had? I never played World but was always interested, if this is like what I heard World was like for newbies then i'm interested.
This is probably a bad stupid question, but has there been any suggestion of local co-op? Presumably not split-screen but local wireless? That would be what would tip me over into buying this.

I don't see why it wouldn't have local wireless. All the previous handheld games had it and it's been one of the big draws.
Sweet, did not know that about previous handheld versions but I suppose it makes sense. Here’s hoping they don’t do a Crystal Chronicles. Colour me curious for now!
It's gotta have local wireless, that's what the series was built on
I am super excited for this. It looks like it's pulling a load of world style changes but still looks a bit more classical monster hunter - hopefully including the roster and weapon variants!
Plus it's portable, so better than World confirmed.
It looks so damn glorious. Surprised how they keep taking the traversal in this series even further. I've also wanted mounts ever since Unite. I know Iceborn implemented somehting similar but you couldn't full control them like I assume you can here.
This looks like the perfect middle ground between world and the old games, while also taking the portable side of the series into its own direction. The very Japanese setting, the yokai based monsters, and the fanged wyvern flagship indicates to me that they're taking a lot of cues from portable 3rd. I do hope this is back in the old world.
Yeah the Japanese stylings definitely give me portable 3rd vibes. The village looks similar to Yukumo. The shrine ruins actually feel like they're from Toukiden.
As much as I loved World, I did kinda miss that more intimate feeling of the older games. Like many have said, the way it's mixing elements of past and present just seems to be working so well. I'm kinda excited for the community to flourish in one place again, as the split fanbase with World almost kinda bummed be out.
I didn't play Generations and only played 4U for around 50 hours which is abysmal. But that's around the time when burnout from the series hit me HARD. Was Coming off 3U which is was the last time I was so invested in the game. Wasn't till World when my spark came back and it was almost new learning experince because it was so different.
Not sure I could really go back to the older games because of how much more stiff they feel now. I tried the Generations Switch demo and it just did not feel great for me lol. That's why I'm hyped for Rise when it comes to blending the best of both styles.
