I reached HR69 last night (nice) and did apex Mizu and Diablos, literally all I have left quest wise is apex rathian and mizu in the wild. This update should be well timed!

Ngl I was kind of expecting a few more monsters to be added - specifically Gravios, Agnaktor and Zamtrios since their younger/smaller counterparts are all present. I guess maybe they're being saved for the eventual g rank expansion.

Yeah, with no mention of new monsters in future updates it is a little concerning. But that makes me assume the Ultimate version is coming sooner than we think.

That's possible - maybe it'll end up dropping around Christmas or next Spring rather than taking a year and a half like Iceborne did.

Either way, I'm excited for Valstrax - I didn't get far enough into GU to fight it, so it'll be nice to experience it for the first time. (Although I've still barely started High Rank so I'm probably a way off thinking about that yet lol)

Started on the update. Got carted pretty quickly on the new big battle. Hopefully get it beaten tonight and then onto making some new armour and weapons.

And Valstrax beaten.

Really good battle and the new monster is a unique and retro design. Now just a few bits and pieces and grinding to make some new armour.

Overall it's a nice free update but it was over hyped as the amount of new stuff is really limited and there is still no true end game/grind/ purpose.

Hopefully a new monster or two is announced for the coming months.

Val is in the wrong Capcom game, DMC is over there bro damn. I got mauled LOL. My first solo quest fail too but I was also kinda being a bit reckless to see what it was all about.

So is 6 stars the highest level of solo quests? Coz I've exhausted all the Village quests in about 40 hours and I'm not being offered anything higher.

I've got a little squad of real world mates to do the hub quests with but it seems odd to have the single player just stop.

Also, THIS is where the credits should have been. :lol:

The village quests stop yeah, but you can always do the hub quests in singleplayer.

Ah right, that's the next stop then.

Finally took down Val. Haven't been bullied like that in an MH game in a long time. Maybe it's the tilt talking but I honestly didn't like that hunt much. Feels so out of place in this game.

So I'm about HR75 and have finished every quest available in the game, as apparently the new apex hunts (and some others) are all gated behind Valstrax at HR100?

I think it's kind of ridiculous that there is this 25HR gap of pure grind to reach new content, especially when rampages are by far the most efficient way to grind. It's my first major criticism of the game (ignoring the lack of poogies).

Never mind not getting the proper ending for three months, this is the real reason Rise is an unfinished game

Yeah there's like 10 new quests after Valstrax including a couple apex ones, but otherwise I think apex quests are obtained after fighting them in a rampage, or after doing a number of rampages, or after reaching a specific HR, Idk kinda hard to tell tbh. I didn't get the apex rathalos quest for ages and then it just suddenly appeared.

Valstrax was pretty cool tho. Managed to hunt it first time albeit with 2 deaths. My first death happened when I had full health - it left the fight, or so I thought, but then it flew back in with an explosion that just wiped me out. Once again, the new armor is one of the better looking sets, but not enough to convince me to permanently wear it as layered armor, and its skills are kinda meh for me. Some of the balancing in the game really puts me off. It's like, the valstrax hunting horn has pretty low attack comparatively to other hunting horns, which I guess is then made up for by having a lot of white sharpness, but it kinda seems like it cancels out to just being a bit meh overall. And only one dec slot so it's like why bother? Stacking more skills just seems way more favourable in general.

Apex Rathian and Mizu were both "beat them in a rampage + reach HRXX". I think Rathalos and Diablos are the same in needing to beat them in a rampage (which I've done prior to the update when they were only in rampages), but seemingly the other unlock condition is to beat Valstrax as my girlfriend unlocked them on doing so.

It's just the big gap with nothing to do other than grind that is annoying me. I don't particularly want to grind rampages, I just want to play the new content!

This is what led to me giving up on World, I never actually unlocked the kirin quest or anything past that because it was too boring trying to grind my hr up for it. I'm generally having a lot more fun with Rise though so I'm hoping that when it comes to grind time I manage to stick it out for longer.

I think each rampage bumps you up like 4 HR, so you wouldn't have to do too many... but yes I agree it's a pain. Is there nothing else you want to farm? Got all the armor and weapons you want? Replayability is obviously a big part of the game, and I think the idea is to use all of the weapons and farm sets for all of them too. Meanwhile I'm here having only touched the hunting horn lmao

I'm still working on collecting all the light bowguns and I haven't perfected my armour sets so I have stuff to do, but I'd rather be working my way to those while playing the new content rather than repeatedly grinding my least favourite aspect of the game. I'm also unlikely to ever perfect my armour sets because I just can't be bothered to ever do melding :lol:

Melding makes me scream. RNG in some video games just take it way too far.
