So do you have to do hub quests online or can the whole thing be done solo?

Asking for a friend because he's worried about not having any friends...

It'll be a tougher time, but it can all be done solo.

It's fine to do it all solo, monster health gets balanced in the hub to the number of players including for solo play.

Yeah my plan has been to finally get on board the train with Rise for a while! I've played a couple of Monster Hunter demos in the past but never took the plunge but this time it felt like the moment for it!

Glad to hear that you can do stuff offline, I'm not against online play but if significant amounts of the game was gated behind that side of things it would probably put me off

I've mostly played Rise solo and in local multiplayer (although the actual local connectivity on Switch sucks so technically we do it through online play :lol:

). I've never played online with randoms, I just don't see the appeal and think it can throw off the balance of progression completely. But apparently a lot of people enjoy playing that way, so w/e. My point is it's definitely not necessary so don't worry!

Yeah, this also feels like the time to jump in for me. The demo was hard to get to grips with but reading up on that being aimed towards veterans and the main game having a better ramp up for noobs made me give this a proper go

Excellent, the ranks of Monster Hunters continue to swell!

I need to decide between buying Rise and Zelda this month, which means there's a chance this may have to wait a wee bit longer before I jump in but I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into it!

Also, once you get to grips with Rise you'll know enough about the mechanics to go on and give World a try after (It's worth it)

I'm currently waiting for my new flat's broadband to get installed but once that's online I'd definitely be up for some group hunts

also I just got my first quest fail of the game on the Zinogre+Mizutsune quest for unlocking the long sword's last switch skill ;_; realised afterwards that it was probably partly because I hadn't actually upgraded my armour at all since I started high rank lol woops

Yep, there are 3 "Capcom Collabs" in the current roadmap. The first was Monster Hunter Stories 2, the next two are afaik unannounced but due for the end of this month and next month.

There were a lot of Nintendo crossovers in MH4U iirc so I don't see why not. I think the Capcom collabs are Capcom specific so it'll probably be like Resident Evil and Ace Attorney next.

The collabs since World seem to be dialled way back compared to what they were in the previous games which is a shame.

I think the only sticking point could be whether they intend to bring in cross-play/cross-saves with the PC version, Nintendo probably won't want PC players using their characters in any capacity.
