(sidenote did anyone watch the film it was so bad omg)

Went up against this bug like creature covered in webs this evening, it was a pretty hard monster to defeat. Luckily we did kill it, everybody kept smacking it in it's sac as it seemed to do a lot of damage.

I didn't even play iceborne.

The stupid RNG grind for decorations killed any desire I had to keep playing that game.

"Kill this monster over and over again so you can spin a roulette wheel with a 1% chance of getting what you want"

Yeah no thanks :lol:

The whole reason I like MH progression is because if you want something there's clear ways to get it. You can set yourself goals and complete them with a little time investment. The endgame in world just flipped that on its head.

I think the idea of rare drops (in this but also jrpgs in general) is to demonstrate consistent mastery of a boss. Like, ok, you got through it once, but are you good enough to effectively farm it.

It's not a strong design argument though imo because rng plays such a role. What I like about drops in mh is the control you have in say trying to break specific parts, or cut off a tail, or boost your drop chance with food or good choice of quest. So there is still fun in optimising your approach to farming, but anything past a few repeats starts to be annoying.

I stopped giving a strawberry float about higher level gems in World because the drop rate was ridiculous.

To me the fun was making new cool buildsz so that drop rate kinda killed my motivation to play.

The quests that would generate randomly after defeating a monster?

From what I remember they had different tiers of rewards (silver, gold etc) but there was no way to go after a specific decoration.

BTW if anybody sees the Palico Amiibo in stock anywhere, please let me know!

If I got lucky with gems I'd take it and move on. Don't think I ever farmed for them in World. The RNG charm stuff in Rise seems more tamer tho but I haven't really messed with it much yet.

Itr seems to be every 5-10 hunts. I usually do the 1 star village collecting quests to progress tickets and melding (I've got the first 1 star quest down to 35 seconds 8-) )

And "done" with the storyline in the hub and last urgent 7* done. Last fight was easy (rather than one move) and move of spectacle then encounter. Better to Iceborne, worse that Sifa

And then the game just "ends". It's odd to complain about a game that's given XX hours enjoyment to say it feels incomplete, but this doesn't seem to have an endgame (beyond set up gear for upcoming DLC continuation).

Gems being craftable is a nice step and makes them targetable, RNG in Talismans seems insance. That variety in power/ability available is bonkers (I got a rank 7, 2xQuick Sheath, 2*Exhaus, 2 slot gem and 1 slot gem that nothing else is coming close to) but it seems much easier to "spam" than previousl meldings.

FYI, DLC 2 is going to continue/finish the story. I don't think they had time to properly finish in time due to Covid.

Yeah I think they will go with a paid expansion as opposed to an Ultimate release like they have in the past to add G rank and the like.

Got a new gunlance build and it's working really well. Also unlocked a new rampage which ended with some floating monster that I have not fought before. Very annoying but I did it thanks to the AI controlled turrets.

Playtime is 50 hours, which isn't bad going.

Wish my image sig would work
