Is anyone actually doing GRCade group hunts? Might be down for a few next week on the discord if people are interested

Aside from a few online hunts I haven't touched Hub much. Currently on 6 star village, wrapping up the last few quest. Now is where the meat and potatoes start for me as I try to really dig into SnS and collect all it's weapons.

Might be a stupid question but can you lock onto enemies?

You'll want to change your target camera mode in Camera options, then you can click RS to cycle targets.

Really enjoying Rise so far, for me it feels a lot more like classic MH in comparison to World - hunt areas are a lot more open/less cluttered and it doesn't take itself as seriously as World did which is nice. I think they've also done a lot to improve exploration - the wirebug really makes getting around much more fun, and all the endemic life you can find makes exploration way more rewarding and worthwhile in every hunt.

So far I'm at 2* Hub and 3* village, been cycling between glaive, charge blade, great sword and hunting horn to get a bit of variety. Think glaive feels a bit underpowered compared to all the improvements other weapons have got, but otherwise I'm having great fun with all the new moves and silkbinds. (I'm sad they seem to have nerfed the hunting horn from the first demo though, it absolutely destroyed stuff in that)

Yeah, click the right thumbstick and it cycles between different large monsters, depending on your camera settings you'll either have your camera locked to the monster you've selected or you'll be able to re-centre the camera onto the monster whenever you press L (I recommend the latter but that's just personal preference).

Wrapped up village and all its quest now. Only got licence test and rampage left, surprised it kinda just stops there... I'm guessing we have to wait for that update?

Yeah, I read before release that it just stops at a really weird point because the full ending is only coming in the second update, seems like a weird choice to me but I guess they're still trying to go the game-as-a-service route that World took. The April update sounds like it has a decent amount of content to it at least (my boy chameleos!!!), hopefully the second one isn't too long after that.

To lock the true ending behind dlc lol >,>, but at least it's free so can't really complain. It's a neat way to make more of an event in a way.

The hub continues the story and into ‘high rank’at least - the license test is a shortcut there so you don’t have to start from beginning I believe

I'm slowly coming round on rampages now I'm learning the various placements. I think the setup time is just enough when you know what you are doing, but when everything is still new it doesn't really give much time to learn.

Still much prefer regular quests but they aren't bad!

They are already doing it much better because they have said there won't be any timed quests. Which were really dumb, especially compared to previous game DLCs where the quests stuck around forever once released (as they should!)

Yeah I completely missed the Resident Evil crossover stuff in World because it was time limited.

It's part of what put my off going back to World, knowing that I had missed stuff. I just get in the mindset of screw it, I'd rather not play at all than play knowing I've missed out on things. Definitely a me problem but it's a mentality that serves me well in avoiding general exploitative game-as-a-service design!

Rise seems to have it right at the moment. It does seem a little content-light (but then anything will in comparison to "just throw in everything" Generations Ultimate) but the promise of free and permanent content updates is a reassuring one. I just hope we get Kirin back, I'm not even that big a fan but it feels wrong to me not having it! (Also Kut-ku for being iconic, and Yian Garuga for just being a personal favourite)

Thank god for that, I really hated world having time limited quests - it meant you felt forced to play those specific quests rather than anything else so that you didn't miss the rewards, that way of doing it just doesn't really respect your time. I spent way too much time on the Kulve Taroth quests just because whenever they cropped up I felt like I had to prioritise them above anything else.

Thanks for the help, got a handle on this now. Camera controls can be a little fidgety and i'm not a fan of climbing especially the jump back were half the time you fall back down to the bottom as you don't seem to stop on platforms.

The timed stuff sucks for sure. I played world for a few months before taking a break which was when a bunch of events started to happen that I missed. Same with IB, I went in hard for the first couple months before calling it there and have like a year worth of events I never caught up on. Some stuff has gone and some stuff is on rotations so it's not always there. Just lost the drive to jump back in tbh. Hearing that Rise won't be like this is reassuring which means I don't have to feel guilty when I take breaks.

I stopped playing world 300 hours in when the limited time quests came in. I've decided to buy Iceborne so I've got a PlayStation monster Hunter to play on the big screen. So Rise had really got me back into Monster Hunter.

So far I've not lost a single battle, been carted but came back to win. Been close with the Apex creature rampage but still managed to do it. Not sure if it's the game is easier than World or just that I know more now than I did then.

Still using light bowgun but building up switch axe and gunlance sets bit by bit.

Wish my image sig would work

When it comes to DLC stuff I hope there's nothing as bad as that Final Fantasy boss :dread:

The way the Behemoth was handled was neat in theory but a pain for those that just wanna solo. I never managed to get the dragoon layered armour set either, I'm still tight. I personally hope we still get those kinda unique fights tho.

The Witcher one was pretty crap as well.
