Also, shovel coal at the kilns to lower the cooldown on the dragonator/other big cannon thing. It's probably explained in one of the 1000 tutorials, but nobody seems to do them when I do MP rampages.

I didn't realise that counter signals raise your damage by an absolute ton (but only your own weapon) so you should basically not be on a gun when one is active

One of my hits did 1700 damage earlier, I can't imagine how much the great sword can do.

I thought the counter thing was a general moral boost, this makes so much more sense now.

This is a good rampage guide. He also does great weapon guides and gear sets too.

Tonight I decided to buy a Switch online pass and give this a go in multiplayer. It's brilliant. So much better than single play.

We killed the last few Monsters I was struggling with and then did the final boss. Final boss was very well done and I loved the design. Reminded me of a creature from Labyrinth.

Really surprised how smooth it all ran on a switch lite and with no noticeable slowdown. It was just like the early days of MH world. Everyone using a different weapon and healing each other. All working together and loving the hunt.

I've now unlocked the switch axe I was after and working on a set for it. This is a ridiculously good game and great value for money.

Having this be on the switch is so great

My girlfriend is able to come sit in my garden and we can play together

Hoping to get a couple of of local friends into the game as well so we could do a little meet up :D

The join request system is so much more seamless compared SOS. I like that it's tied to specific quest too which saves having to search them. Been going through all Low Rank hub to speed things up with it.

I'm tidying up all the missions I haven't done. I have yellow sticky notes on some missions which I think are linked to tasks.

I understand the decorations and crafting better after a few attempts at it too. Just need to unlock all base camps and also unlock the extra submarines.

My switch axe build is fun to use, 40% affinity and poison damage too. Not had any problems since I've started using it.

The yellow speech bubbles are the side quest. You can keep tabs on them from the menu. There are also some that aren't tied to quest and require you to complete certain task. You often get unique weapons from these so its worth finishing them sooner than later.

Did I miss something or did this game just end without finishing the story?

The true ending is coming in free DLC later. Update 2.0 is free in April sometime. New monster and stuff, then another big update later.

But why?

It just makes the game feel unfinished.

"Oh we don't know where the boss has gone, ooopsie, the end"

The hack last year and the virus. Both apparently had a big impact on the game. So they have released an excellent game but it will be supported for a year or more via free DLC. Did the same with Monster Hunter World.

It does feel very odd when the credits roll and then there is still a lot to see and do. Even after the last monster is hunted and all side quests completed it doesn't really have an end game apart from rolling better talismans.

Capcom are excellent at supporting MH so it'll keep growing into a more complete game. I hope they add a new weapon type.

Sure but world was a fully complete game.

Just a bit weird how it's not getting stick anywhere for being unfinished

Also for some reason I still have a few hammers with question marks despite having hunted all of the monsters

Base World was also pretty scarce during post game tho. It was farming tempered monsters for gems to upgrade armour and weps which wasn't that appealing to me so I mostly skipped that stuff. Sounds like Rise is worse but I've been taking my sweet time because of this lol. Burned myself out with World to the point I missed out on the post game updates. So I'm taking it a lot slower this time around. Only just recently started HR after like 80 hours >,>

I'm not talking about the post game, just the fact they literally cut out the last part of the single player story.

I'm sorry but if a Zelda or God of War game did that I don't think people would be okay with it.

Delay your game and release it finished maybe? Or write the story in a way that gives a satisfying ending while leaving things open ended. They ended it in the laziest possible way.

Clearly the answer is that people care a lot less about the story in Monster Hunter than they do in Zelda or God of War.

I've not finished the "story" in this yet in that I am still HR5 and there is the continuing plot into the hub quests (I have finished the village completely unless more gets added, feels like it might). I never like to push on straight away on unlocking the urgent because it means trivialising the earlier content that I still haven't played, so I've been working on ticking off each rank so far. If the update lands this month as it is supposed to that'll arrive before I've exhausted what is in the game at the moment which is nice, but I think it's v3.0 that is going to have the additional story in it so it depends how far off that is.

I'm still clearing other backlog games before picking this up, by the sounds of things a delay to when they actually finish the story may not be a bad idea!

Yeah. It'll be my first Monster Hunter experience so I'll happily wait a while to make sure it's as complete a package as it is going to be before diving in!

You'll want to wait 1-2 years for the expansion then
