Pretty much any horror game in VR. It doesn't even have to be particularly good to be absolutely terrifying, such is the level of immersion.

One of the side missions in GTA IV where you steal vehicles for your Irish mechanic friend was for a motorbike that is sitting in a side street among what looks like a street party.

Most of these missions will see you either having to kill the owner or have them retaliate in some way so to preempt this I fired a quick burst from a submachine gun across the crowd expecting to take out a few enemies and then have to take out a few more.

Instead all that happened was the majority of the small crowd died instantly while the rest ran off in terror. No-one in that crowd was armed with a gun and I was able to just take the bike with no hassle.

It was incredibly unnerving as it felt like a way more realistic version of a killing spree than the more outlandish kind I'd have done in GTA or other games.

The entirety of Duke Nukem Forever. Aki bought it for me as a joke and it was one of the most painful things I have played.

First person horror is making me squirm too. Resi 7, and the two Outlast games are adding years onto me.

Gonna second Hotline Miami. It was probably the first really violent game I played, and I was pretty uncomfortable by the first mission, especially with how you have the finish off the dying enemies crawling away from you.

That Dragon Cancer

Hearing a baby screaming in agony was traumatic. The most upsetting experience I've ever had in any form of media.

well i dont play games that are overly violent, theres something rather juvenile about gore and grittiness. so i suppose the most uncomfortable ive felt when playing have been when things get really anime. i do wish theyd stop assuming im attracted to these vaguely female pixels, its just cringe worthy. there also things ive heard about from games ive not played that make me uncomfortable for being a gamer, basically im surprised kojima hasnt been sectioned and KT is allowed outside

I was weirdly separated from all that as it happened. Only really found out about how horrendous it was afterwards.

I still don't know what gamergate was and I don't particularly feel the need to find out.

I generally stay away from the whole 'industry insider' and 'gamer culture' stuff anyway as it doesn't interest me and I find most people involved (not including GRcade, most of us are decent people) are self indulgent twats at the best of times.

Oh man that has dug up a buried memory.
Farenheit / Indigo Prophecy on PS2.

QTE sex scenes  :fp:

It was about ethics in games journalism!*

I've not played through it myself, but the eye section in Dead Space 2 is something I've seen footage of and it made me feel all sweaty and anxious, so I'll drop that in as a contender.

It was about sexism, misogyny, attacking feminists and "social justice warriors" and trying (and failing) to dress it up as "ethics in game journalism"

So basically, a certain percentage of gamers, journalists and industry insiders are bastards.

I think I got that memo.

Yeah Resi 7 in VR... Especially the bit where you look for the sample in Evie's room... That Shat me up, similar in a way to the nursery in ZombiU.

And that fast ghost woman that peels off her facein Rush of Blood VR...or the bit at the end of the spider level where hundreds on spiders climb all over you ( and I don't mind spider)

There's a mission in Vice City that requires you to murder some guys wife so he can run off with his side piece, and make it look like an accident. So you have to run her car off the road, all the while she's screaming and pleading for her life having done absolutely nothing wrong.

Felt like a piece of gooseberry fool after that tbh.

The baby in Dead Space (2?) stayed with me too.

And Jenny in The Darkness.
