PostMotion+ built in: will they? won't they? should they?
by RamSteelwood » Mon Jul 27, 2009 1:48 pm

Motion plus is here, and to my mind it fulfills the promise of the original remote. Obviously it would probably benefit all future motion based games on the Wii, yet the problem for developers is will enough people have M+ to justify making their games exclusively for it?

So my question is, will Nintendo start to build motion plus into the Wii remote, and include these enhanced remotes with the Wii itself? Should they phase out the old standard remote, making all future hardware motion plus to encourage developers to make their games for it?
Or will Nintendo continue to sell the two seperately in order to make stacks of cash, as if they were some kind of greedy corporation that only cared about making lots of money?

The Wii has sold a zillion consoles so far so it wouldn't make any real difference to add them into the packs now.

I would prefer it it they would.

As i'm not a fan of it at the bottom.

However i wonder if they will due to the fact the little bottom thing makes it known to the Casual side that something has changed and something has been added on to make it better. If it was integrated people wouldn't be able to see it and i wonder if they wouldn't buy into it as much.

That would be the issue i can see.

Also after reading Iwata Asks about building WMP i wonder if they would be able to fit it down there?

well they could just make the remotes bigger, couldn't they?

i actually prefer the longer remotes when the motion+ is attached...

I played a game where you shook the remote alot didn't feel right felt bit loose and i know it can't be flush solid but i would prefer the original size.

Nah, that would just make it even more confusing for the average consumer. They be like "do I need this or don't I?". Plus it's more economical for Nintendo just to make one additonal product rather than a whole new remote and a motion plus ad on.

Well, it's passive sensing, so probably not much.

They will probably build it into the next version of Wii, hopefully a scaler and a HDMI port also.

I seem to be going through batteries like there's no tomorrow since I had it. Could just be that I'm playing more Wii than I have for a little while, but I'm sure MotionPlus is taking a toll.

It all depends on how well WSR does to be honest. If the mass market deems it the next Wii Fit (and with the blanket coverage it gets there is no reason they shouldnt) then Nintendo will have the installed base to bother building it in. However if WSR turns into another Wii Music (unlikely) then they might keep it as optional only.

Personally I think they should start packing it in with WSR and the console itself and consign the original Wii Sports to the dustbin.

Motion+ and WSR are the turning point in the Wii's life.

They'll make more money selling it seperate so they'll stay doing that.

I think from Xmas 09 onwards, they should pack Motion+ in with the console. Throw in a copy of Wii Sports Resort too and everyone will be happy.

They definitely should. But whether they will or not? God only knows...

This.

I too have been replacing batteries at an unseen rate since getting GST.
Might even have to buy a pack or two 'cos there are only so many that can disappear from work before someone notices.

Yes - they will but not until their next iteration. And hopefully there'll be non of this recalibratyion nonsense by then.
Yes - they should.

I also prefer the longer controller - feels far more balanced to me - I even prefer it with the condom on - something I've previously just ripped off in disgust.

They'll probably keep them separate so that they can track its adoption more easily.

Or they could position the Black Wii as a 'Pro' unit in the west with a Wii Sports Resort bundle and Motion+ remotes.
