Never too late to pick XCOM back up, it's a great game and your thread tipped me from thinking this was a nice idea to actually doing it.

Cheers Roon, I'll just be happy to be part of the game in whatever function!

Also really glad my XCOM adventures inspired this, good that something positive came out of all that death and destruction :dread:

I've been thinking all day about Twitch logistics following your comments. I'll have to work out how to stream on Twitch. Best bet is to try and set up a trial stream looking at team performance and maybe the practice and qualification of Round 2 just to see if I can get it working well enough for a race instead of a pre-record. If I can get it going, that'll be on Sunday evening with a live race at a later date (probably Round 3).

Return_of_the_STAR wrote:This is great. Also Roonmaster, you sound like a airline pilot giving an update during a flight

N.b. That’s not a bad a thing.

I have no idea how to take that, so I'll take it positively!

Preezy wrote:Superb thread idea, dude, and also casts some shame on me for not ever getting round to finishing my XCOM series :shifty:

I couldn't see my name in any of those lists, just wondering if I could be added as I'd love to be part of this :D

The Euro and Asian leagues have an additional race before Round 2, so I'll post those results tomorrow.

 it honestly wasn't meant as an insult. You just really reminded me of the pilot on my last flight.

This looks fun, thanks for including me! We should also try and do that xcom 2 run. That was fun to read to,

Asia-Pacific Supercup - Round 2 Results (League 2)

Rex Kramer bounced back from his 17th place finish in R1 to Grand Slam in China, with pole, fastest lap and the win. However the consistency of Garth and It's Milner keep the Espirit GP team ahead in both Championships.

European Racing Series - Round 2 Results (League 3)

Every driver on the podium finishes in the bottom quarter of the grid in the opening race, showing just how hotly contested the ERS is. The constructors is starting to break into two groups, with the Top 4 starting to breakaway, but SEP and Shafto of the ZRT Firebird are 3pts clear at the top. Will infighting for the Driver's Championship give opportunities to the chasing pack?

Other News:

Roon Mastor has reportedly spent over £13m on car upgrades and HQ developments between race 1 and race 2. Sources close to the Chariot team have been heard to say that the entire season's development budget had already been spent on a plethora of front wing designs and exotic brake materials. Whilst this may bode well for the upcoming race in Beijing, only time will tell if this will make the Chariot competitive all-season long.

Kitano Sport are expected to go well in Beijing with their intricate front wing design. Drivers Neo Cortex and Cuttooth will have to make the most of this opportunity, given their pointless result in Tondela. The team have deployed their reserve driver Peter Crisp in the simulator to ensure the car is optimally set up for the Chinese GP.

Rinks has decided to retire at the end of the season. The Endurance car driver is expected to hand over the number 1 status in the team to team-mate Hound.

Let me just check I’ve got this right: either I’ve not been included or I’m outside the top 60? Yay.

Probably the reason you've decided to retire at the end of the season tbh

GRcade Cup - Round 2 - Qualifying

Qualifying was a mixed conditions affair, with the rain coming down part way through the session, catching a few individuals out on when the track was quickest.

Image

The rain even made it so that I didn't catch 14th down in the images. :shifty:
14th LewisD
15th Mori
16th Lotus
17th Red Dog
18th Cuttooth
19th WithoutaKat
20th Master Jay

Early suggestions are that the championship will be between Vermilion and Cheeky Devlin, meaning that Cheeky's pole and Vermilion's 4th could be critical at this race. Falsey with a great result to qualify sixth. The Kitano Sport team will see 9th as a poor result, and Roon Mastor was seen shaking his head with the poor results for his team in qualifying.

I tried streaming this evening and when I finished I found my mic was muted :fp: So that video no longer exists! I am set up for streaming now so perhaps we can do a stream of Round 3? That'll most likely be Wednesday evening some time between 7pm and 9.30pm. Round 2 Race highlights will be up Monday evening at 7pm.

:datass:

Pole again. I could get used to this.

Hopefully I won't be let down on strategy again and I can convert it to a win, while keeping Vermillion down the table somewhere. :D

Though considering my team is clearly meant to be Ferrari and their current form I'm not sure hoping for good strategy calls from them is going to be be particularly rewarding. :fp:

Hopefully catch your next stream Roonmastor. Don't worry to much about things like muted mics. I've been streaming for years and I still do that.

GRcade Cup - Round 2 - Race

I really enjoyed this evening's race. Some great stories in there. Highlights will be available at 7pm this evening.

For those wanting a "live" experience, I have set it to Première so you can watchalong as if it is live at 7pm (and watch like a normal video shortly afterwards). Hopefully that works as a halfway house prior to streaming Round 3 on Wednesday.

Race 2 Results

Image

Anyone who watched the Beijing race highlights will know that the commentary team really enjoyed watching this race unfold, and the awards this time out awarded themselves.

Awards
Roon Mastor's Driver of the Day
No question about this one. The Brazilian Satriales showed a dominant display of defensive driving to secure 2nd place against two fast charging rivals on faster rubber. Made all the more memorable with his starting position from 13th and him later revealing he is carrying a neck injury. Heroic.

Roon Mastor's Spoon of Shame
Vermilion seemed to go in one direction this race, and that was backwards. Finishing 11 places lower than his starting slot where he didn't get away cleanly, but given that only lost him a place off the line, the rest is placed squarely on his own shoulders.

Image
Binotto's Star Strategists
Van Dort Racing's strategy team will be getting the call up from Binotto after this week's performance. They took a potential win, albeit a more likely podium and turned it into 6th. A double stack saw Rawrgna left out to dry, although the pit crew did an outstanding job to make this as painless as they could. Falsey and Rawrgna will be walking away wondering what could have been.
