Why is that some people believe sequels are incapable of doing anything original? It's a stupid notion

Agreed, I have no issues with sequels whatsoever. Yes there have been many lazy sequels that don't seem to have had the effort put into them but there have been many excellent sequels and the idea that there's no more story to tell after one movie is just crazy.

More likely.

We've also got Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 to come after Finding Dory.

To be fair to Pixar though, Toy Story 2 and 3 were both worthy sequels without a doubt. And Ir really enjoyed Monsters University. Skipped Cars 2 after the first though...

I didn't even like Frozen, but let's be honest it would be absolutely mental not to do a sequel. It's a no-brainer.

Related:

The song is pretty poor, especially for the Lopez..es? Apart from the Oaken cameo. "You need medical attention!" "Are you sick? How about a cold remedy of my own invention?"

A better short:

"the kingdom is lost!" *castle explodes*

LIVE-ACTION BEAUTY AND THE BEAST FINALLY GETS CASTING RIGHT

Image

Josh Gad to play Le Fou

He's genuinely perfect for it, he's a decent singer, he's got the look, and he should be decent enough at the slapstick comedy part of it (he's great as Bearclaw in New Girl :shifty: )

Luke Evans.

At least he's got musical experience, but I'm not sure about him at the moment...

It's weird how much less... aggressive his version of One Song Glory is...

Far too thin. Gaston is roughly the size of a barge.

Should've been Dwayne Johnson.

EDIT: I'm not sure Luke Evans can actually go deep enough for Gaston. Will be interesting to see what they do with it...

Think it might have been now that you mentioned it

I think the film actually came from this idea though

Visually, it's quite a pretty film. The story's clearly absolute trash, but it looks fun enough.

Kevin Smith to honor dead friend’s wishes by making Mallrats 2

As reported, Smith opened up about Mallrats 2 on his Hollywood Babble-On Podcast, saying that the idea has been around since producer James Jacks first began pushing for it shortly after the original’s release. Unfortunately, Jacks himself is no longer around, having died last year. So now Smith wants to pay tribute to Jacks’ passion by seeing that his idea lives on, and making the film that Jacks spent so much of his life championing—even during the times when Smith himself would deride it:

Jim Jacks never strawberry floating lost faith. Even when I would kick Mallrats and make fun of it, Jacks was always the guy going “No man. Know what would be funny and what’s gonna redeem us? Mallrats 2: Die Hard In A Mall.” So it was one of those things that was an ongoing theme in his life.

"As I said, he passed away a year ago. I had lost touch with him for quite a few years before that and this was the biggest strawberry floating fan of movies you’ve ever known in your life. And Clerks was the thing that kicked off my career but Mallrats brought me into a complete different world and that movie doesn’t get made without this dude at Universal going, “Let’s make it, let’s make it.” So I felt real shitty about missing the last years of his life and I met some people who were like, “We ate with Jim every strawberry floating Thursday night and he still talked about you.” I hadn’t seen him in years and he was still talking about me and that movie. So a year ago I was sitting here talking about this gooseberry fool and I was like “I wanna honor the man in some way” and this is how we’re gonna do it. We’re gonna finally make the movie I wish to Christ I made when he was living, man. So we’re finally going to make Mallrats 2."

While this confirms that Smith is clearly dead serious about making Mallrats 2, as well as about making us feel terrible for preemptively dumping on Mallrats 2, not much else is known about it just yet—particularly whether the Die Hard In A Mall concept is still in play. But whatever structure it takes, Mallrats 2 will stand as a living tombstone for that optimism. Like a mall.

Screw the haters, I want this.
