Vin Diesel Promises Two More Chronicles of Riddick Movies

Vin Diesel is definitely the biggest news of the day. Not only did we run his new Fast and Furious trailer, but his other film, Babylon A.D., got an article discussing its problems with Fox. Now we add some more news from the man himself into the mix. Diesel spoke with MTV recently and told them that he is indeed already working on making two more Chronicles of Riddick movies. When that film hit in 2004, it was setup to be a trilogy, but it had a poor run at the box office and now its been 4 years since we've even heard it mentioned again. Diesel is hopeful that it will be back anyway and is working on a script with David Twowy. "Everyone knows I love the Riddick character and I'm always working on it."

David Twowy wrote and directed both The Chronicles of Riddick and Pitch Black and is indeed currently writing two more new scripts. "The only question is whether we take a page from the Lord of the Rings guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time. There are two more in mind." As for where it might head, "sooner or later we all end up in the Underverse" is all that Diesel said. This falls in line with a report from 2005 that the second film would head to the Underverse while the third would conclude with a return to Furya, Riddick's home world. This might lead to an epic conclusion, but with a mediocre introduction with Chronicles of Riddick, I don't think anyone will be too excited for another two movies (except for me).

'Doctor Who' bound for the big screen?

Sci Fi smash "Doctor Who" could be made into a movie, its new showrunner said. Steven Moffat, the award-winning scriptwriter who has taken over as the driving force behind the show following the departure of Russell T. Davies, said he was keen to see the Saturday evening show made into a feature film.

"It would be good to see it in the cinema so long as it is great and fantastic," he said, speaking at a master class on the show at the festival here. But he cautioned that the the movie would need careful handling.

"I'm not against it ... so long as it never gets in the way of the TV show. If it got in the way of the show that would be appalling."

Fans of the time lord series have been eager to see the show transition to the big screen ever since it was brought back to BBC1 four years ago. Almost 10 million viewers watched the season finale last month.

I bet it isn't as good as the 1969 biopic Che!. Featuring Omar Sharif as Che Guevara and Jack Palance as Fidel Castro.

Woody Harrelson Joins Zombieland

We’ve got three words for you – and if those three words don’t set your pulse a-racin’, your heart a-poundin’, and your brain a-throbbin’, then you’re probably one of the zombies that Woody Harrelson has just signed on to blow away in Zombieland.

Oh, damn. We ruined it. Erm, anyway, the three words are ‘Woody’, ‘Harrelson’, and ‘zombies’.

Yes, Harrelson is the first actual living breathing human being to sign onto the cast of Ruben Fleischer’s zombie action comedy, in which a pair of mismatched guys, survivors of a zombie apocalypse, find redemption and friendship in amongst the blood and the guts and the grue.

We have to say we like this concept – it’s snazzy, it’s to the point, and it’s almost as good as IRA Zombies. And we like Harrelson, who seems a perfect fit for this material (which we’re guessing will be demented).

Icing on the cake? Harrelson’s character, a zombie fighter, is called Albuquerque. Now that’s a downright cool character name.

No word on the rest of the casting yet, but if it’s as leftfield and inspired as Harrelson’s, then we could be in for a treat with Zombieland.

Two More Riddick Films Coming?

OK, so the box office was less than stellar. And the reviews about the same. The Chronicles of Riddick still made enough money overseas and from the tie-in game to be considered a success, so Vin Diesel isn't totally whacko when he says that the two planned sequels might still happen. That said, we're not holding our breath either.

Speaking to MTV recently for the launch of his latest misfire actioner Babylon AD, Diesel said that there are two more in mind, and that David Twohy is writing the scripts at the moment. "The only question is whether we take a page from the Lord of the Rings guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time," Diesel told the channel. He also said that the delay between the last film and this proposed sequel is less down to convincing people to make it and more to do with he and Twohy being determined to get it right.

After the last film ended with (SPOILER) Riddick as King of the Necromancers (END SPOILER - honestly, it's been years since it came out), Diesel says that this one will end up in their Underverse - so even darker than Pitch Black, we assume.

So good luck to Diesel for all of this - maybe between this and that promising Fast and Furious trailer he'll get back on track.

Michael Keaton to voice 'Ken' in Toy Story 3

Not much is known about Toy Story 3 with the exception of a short synopsis given to the Wall Street Journal earlier this year: “Woody the cowboy and his toy-box friends are dumped in a day-care center after their owner, Andy, leaves for college.”

It has also been revealed that Barbie and Ken would also be featured in the movie.

Jodi Benson best known for the voice of Ariel in Disney's Little Mermaid franchise revealed to the IESB this weekend during an interview on Santa Catalina Island for the release of The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning that she is returning to the Toy Story franchise to voice Barbie. You may recall, she voiced Tour Guide Barbie and Barbie on Backpack in the second film.

But what's Barbie without Ken?!

Benson also revealed to the IESB that her Barbie will be cuddling up to none other than Beetlejuice himself, Michael Keaton, as Ken in the new film.

Keaton worked with Pixar previously voicing Chick Hicks in 2006's CARS.

Also, because I know you are all wondering, she says that Barbie and Ken do not kiss...but they do embrace.

Toy Story 3 is set to release June 18, 2010.

Vin Diesel Promises Two More Chronicles of Riddick Movies

He makes that sound like a good thing. When a game turns out more interesting than the actual film then you know you are doing somrthing wrong

I'm still very interested in the possible sequels, if only so I can finally see the Underverse & Furya.

There are still quite a few questions unanswered as well, why are the Necromancers so scared ogf him & his people... :?:

 With anyone else I would be very pessimisitic, but if Moffat's on-board and it goes ahead then we may be able to expect something special.

The worst idea I've ever heard:

Russell Crowe is apparently deep into developing a biography of the genius Texas comedian Bill Hicks, who passed away in 1994.

The 44-year-old New Zealander tells the Sydney Morning Herald:

"I have another project based on the life of comedian Bill Hicks, which is going from treatment to draft stage with Kiwi writer Mark Staufer."

"Descent" Sequel Gets New Title

Pathe Films has renamed their sequel to Neil Marshall's "The Descent" to simply "The Descent: Part 2" reports Bloody Disgusting.

The sequel will continue the story of Sarah, the only survivor of an all-female caving expedition gone horrifically wrong.

Unable to speak due to the psychological stress, she accompanies a rescue team back to the cave, but events once again take a sinister turn.

No word yet on a release date from Lionsgate, though sometime next year is estimated.
