I dunno... they managed to use the bones of the story for The Fast and the Furious, and they didn't call that Point Break...

Obviously you never realised that The Fast and the Furious was a subtitle. The film's name is Point Break 2: The Fast and the Furious. They then spun it off into the now wildly-successful Fast/Furious series after Point Break 3: xXx(also starring Vin Diesel) sucked a load of donkey dick. Plans for a Point Break 4 were eventually folded into Live Free or Die Hard.
