Sean Bean is now playing Harry Mason, so that's why Heather is there. strawberry float knows why he's Harry, but maybe that'll get explained. Or not.

He's still playing the same character, he's just adopted Harry Mason as an alias. The more pressing question is how they'll explain the end of the first film where he ended up in a different dimension to his daughter.

They probably won't.

Interesting, but so much has been written about The Shining that I can't see it providing anything new. All Kubrick's tricks (the warped geography of the hotel, the "eyes" he built into the sets et ) have all been discussed endlessly.
