Spider-Verse was probably the big one I missed. That and Oppenheimer.

I honestly can't think of anything for next year that I'm overly excited about either now that I think about it.

I just think I've hit franchise fatigue. I'm getting bored of seeing the same franchises being rebooted, or milked into the ground, and I'm going to make a conscious effort to watch more "new" stuff (Or new to me at least). I'll still watch and enjoy the stuff I currently do, but I'm ready for something different.

The Boy and the Heron is out on the 26th, just in time for 2023 :D

The last time I went to the cinema was last year for Top Gun Maverick and Avatar 2. That's it.

As for this year, I didn't go to the cinema yet and I'm annoyed with how they offer very little choice for subtitles including in the films. Most of the times it was at wrong time like 5pm when I finished work at 5pm?!

So I give up going there and wait for the new films on stream. :fp:

:datass:

Love the new Godzilla design, very Godzilla 2000 with the coloured spines. Love Kong's arm gauntlet.

CGI across the trailer looks.... A bit... Off.

But lots of daylight shots and shots of one of the new big bads.

I watched neither Killers of the Flower Moon or Hunger Games but went today to see An Anatomy of a Fall. Maybe next weekend if there's nothing new out.

Looks like a documentary about America in 2025.

(Although not really as they've put Texas and California on the same side, which seems a deliberate attempt to avoid being too close to current politics)

I know that's jingoistic bollocks but I wonder every time I see Americans saying a civil way may break out if they realise what a shitstorm it would be.

Do you really think they're saying it without cause? Do you think they aren't incredibly afraid of what a US civil war in this day and age would look like, what atrocities it would lead very quickly to?

Depends on the side saying it. One side are terrified because they know full well what it will lead to. The other side are salivating at the prospect at killing the "wrong" type of Americans.

They also think they will easily win as they have been told for decades that the other side are weak and too frightened of guns to even fight back.

I think some of them honestly think the other side will just fold and the war will be short and inconseqential.
They're mostly deluded.

They think that because they have guns at home, they can take on the US military.

The 1860s showed how silly that belief was. And it certainly hasn't become easier since.

A24 confirm they are making the Death Stranding movie.

https://variety.com/2023/film/news/death-stranding-movie-a24-hideo-kojima-1235837362/

A24 are probably the right people for this, so consider me looking forward to this.
