I'm a bit with Denster on this one, I don't know why the studio had to announce the 4th film so soon after the release of the current film. Does remove some of the tension somewhat. It's the 3rd film, could be the last of a trilogy, perhaps he'll finally catch a bullet... Naaaaah, 4th film inbound.

Anyone know how long after the 2nd film came out that they announced the 3rd one?

tafedit: I mean this in relation to the studio, not really arsed about this thread revealing it.

You can't say movie announcements in the movie news thread are spoilers

If it's a sequel to a movie that came out less than a week ago - it's a strawberry floating spoiler.

This is crazy  Blame the studio if you must but if something gets announced you're mad if people should put it in spoilers.

They also announced the TV show and the potential of John Wick 4 before John Wick 3 was released...

Mission: Impossible 8 was announced at the same time as 7 which means the mission that happens in 7 isn't impossible.

Not necessarily. They could fail the mission in 7 but still be around to give 8 a go.

It's clearly a spoiler.

What if it's actually a prequel?

Come on. I was clearly joking about the Godzilla one.

Studio announcements and the like have to be fair game, as otherwise every bit of news or new movie annoicement could potentially be a spoiler to someone, somewhere. And then it's going to be a really awkward place to talk if it's just loads of spoilers boxes in every single post. Stuff like this gets printed in newspaper, mentioned on the radio, on TV, on chat shows etc.

It's arguable whether the studio should have more tact. They probably want to have the announcement in people's minds while their movie is riding a crest of release publicity.

That looks pretty great, actually! Didn't think it would, going by the title.

The title is a little bit clichéd but the combination of setting, great cast, and Tarantino makes this sound great on paper. And the trailer looks good too.

Nick ruined it for me by spoiling that there are feet in it. :x
