“Todd Phillips’ “Joker” is unquestionably the boldest reinvention of “superhero” cinema since “The Dark Knight”; a true original that’s sure to be remembered as one of the most transgressive studio blockbusters of the 21st Century. It’s also a toxic rallying cry for self-pitying fedora-wearing misogynists, and a hyper-familiar origin story so indebted to “Taxi Driver” and “The King of Comedy” that Martin Scorsese probably deserves an executive producer credit. It’s possessed by the kind of provocative spirit that’s seldom found in any sort of mainstream entertainment, but also directed by a glorified edgelord who lacks the discipline or nuance to responsibly handle such hazardous material, and who reliably takes the coward’s way out of the narrative’s most critical moments.”

Robbie Collin of the Telegraph loved it but is genuinely worried whether it might get people killed.

Eeep, fedora-wearing misogynists. They ruin everything. Only way to stop them seeing it would be to advertise it as "the perfect date movie"

Those reviews are strawberry floating fascinating though. It seems to be being very well received as a discreet piece of art but with massive reservations about whether it should have been made and the impact it will have in the greater cultural sphere.

I know this isn't the place for an in-depth discussion about the subject so I'm just asking for a short explanation of what the hell is the incells thing?

I just don't understand the entire idea that they're angry that people don't want to sleep with them. Nobody wants to sleep with me and that's fine as I don't have this strawberry floating idiotic idea that women are obliged to sleep with me as why would they be?
Maybe I'm just really stupid (entirely possible I admit) but what the strawberry float are those guys thinking?

From my understanding. They are men who know they are ugly , socially weak etc and they blame nature for this. They don't try to improve, they accept it. And then wallow in it and hate those who have been given advantages of good looks etc.

What's really odd is that they don't try to improve or get rich or learn how to get dates etc. They just find other losers and stay in misery.

Those from their group who do try to change and adapt are shunned. It's basically a group of sad men who think it's not fair that women prefer successful men or good looking men. Also some of their policies (or lunatic ramblings) are genuinely amazing. Trying to create a situation in which they can get laid.

The problem is you don’t (I think) want people to sleep with you.

They do. They feel ‘entitled’. A mix of seeing beautiful women and not understand why they don’t have them and ‘I took you to a cheap dinner why don’t you gobble my nob’?

They are ‘involuntary celibate’ - because society (or women) are giving them what their due/entitled to

Edit- the looks side can weird. fedora-wearing misogynists can be buff/physical attractive and still repellent and not getting sex. They don’t understand why.

Or they can be neckbeards and see a attractive women with a notable less physical attractive man (like them) but kind/funny/interesting (unlike them) and don’t under why they can’t get a similar super model.

It’s not that they’re not getting what they want - it’s that they’re not getting what they believe they’re entitled to/due and it’s all someone else’s fault

They're basically mentally abnormal and think the world owes them something (sex in this case).

I'm actually incredibly glad they can't get laid as it stops them strawberry floating up the human genepool.

Also, perhaps if they lowered their expectations(not all women look like supermodels and that's perfectly okay) and god forbid tried self improvement then maybe they could find someone, but no, its societies fault and nothing to do with being an utter melter.

Some will also deliberately scare women (follow them in the street/dark) to feel powerful and then post about it online about how good it made them feel/to make a women feel that way.

They are the absolute lowest scum and it’s scary people are actually like that

There is only ever one appropriate answer to "What are fedora-wearing misogynists?" and that is to post Natalie Wynn's video on the subject.

You'll never have a better breakdown of this particular subsection of internet society.

That review is absolutely furious about the film's lack of responsibility for the story it tells. It's great and you should read it.

So no. No we don't.

So Joker is like Fight Club but the problematic misinterpretation is actually what the director intended?

From most accounts, yes. One review called it 'cowardly' in its refusal to engage with the sympathy its showing Phoenix's character and the effects such sympathy might have on certain sections of the intended audience.
