Waited months for Parasite to come out here and now it's not even showing at my local Vue, is only at the fancy, expensive cinemas.

Use it as an opportunity to give your local independent cinema some cash. God knows they probably need it. :slol:

Genuinely amazing to see Bong Joon Ho do well this year - he's got a fantastic body of work behind him - I'll go on record to say that Snowpiercer is the best dystopian movie of the last decade and one of the best I've ever seen - and I'm really looking forward to catching Parasite later in the week.

Seems like the rest of the Oscars went pretty much as standard though. Good to see Taika Waititi get some writing recognition but my God the event itself is nauseating at times.

EDIT: Must've been a hell of a feeling to beat two personal idols to best director as well - to be able to name-drop what those two guys meant to him specifically kinda shows how much of an impact they've had on him as a film-maker. Especially Scorsese.

Snowpiercer is brilliant, it’s such a shame Harvey Weinstein deliberately sent it out to die because it really deserves to be more well known.

To be fair, I don't think that is the worst thing Harvey Weinstein ever did......the worst was The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature.

If you have any intention in watching the film, the less you know in advance the better. It's a suspenseful dark comedy.

I'd never heard of it before the Oscars were doled out. I still know nothing. Guess I'll keep it that way, in case it comes to streaming.

Rick Moranis is coming out of retirement for Honey I Shrunk the Kids sequel/soft reboot for Disney.

Shame he couldn't come back for the new Ghostbusters film. But it's still great he is coming back to the big screen.

A shame for the fans for sure but I imagine his reasoning for Afterlife was the same as the 2016 Ghostbusters film:

I hope it's terrific. But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?

Not really worth his while coming out of retirement to pop up as window dressing in one scene of the new film. Whereas a whole rebooted franchise built around him, and all the things that go along with that, is a very different proposition.

There always seems to be a King Arthur or Robin Hood movie coming out. When was the last decent one?

Robin Hood Men in Tights was pretty great if memory serves correctly.

Snowpiercer was a good film spoiled by an absolutely gooseberry fool ending.

I believe it's the metal from the bullets that killed his parents, melted down. Completely normal thing to do, we've all done it.
