I watched it again this year and it's a brilliant film even if 1 or 2 aspects haven't aged too well when you think about them. Proper 90s cinema vibes and it has a great blend of comedy and action-which makes it quite unique in Cameron's back catalogue. Also has quite an odd structure, it's basically two films (an action film and a strawberry floated up rom-com) blended into one. Really underrated performance by Arnie too, his comedic timing is great, as is the chemistry he has with Tom Arnold.

As an action movie, it's decent enough. Cameron knows his way around an action movie. Has some cool scenes, some decent one-liners. But it's arguably too long and a lot of the plot around Jamie Lee Curtis character really wouldn't fly today. The sub-plot with her goes on too long and could easily have been half the length.

She's a real anomaly compared to most of the other female characters Cameron tends to have. Sarah Conner, Ripley, whatshername in Abyss, Zoe Saldana in Avatar, even Rose in Titanic once she gets some agency of her own, are all strong female characters.

I can see him trying to do something like he did with Sarah Connor with her. But where Sarah has to endure an ordeal at the hands of evil machines from the future (Played by Arnie) before she can grow and become who she's meant to be, Jamie Lee Curtis gets gaslit, kidnapped, interrogated and pimped out BY HER HUSBAND (Also played by Arnie  ). It just feels like an awful, awful deception and betrayal. You would divorce someone who put you through what Arnie puts JLC through in that movie. In a heartbeat.

It's definitely worth a watch, but unlike his older action stuff, it's got some issues.

I love it, such an enjoyable action film with plenty of lighter silly moments mixed in.

T'is one of my favourite Schwarzenegger movies.

The backfist on Hudson in True Lies is my favourite scene.

Colours look a bit off and a little too much CGI added. But if it's half as good as the last one it'll still be a classic.

Saving that trailer for my big screen at home I think.

But yeah, no Charlize is a shame. She was fantastic in Fury Road.

Weird that Charlize Theron was not cast in the prequel, that is set years before Fury Road. ;)

I think she's still supposed to be in the film. I might be misremembering.

Get some of that Irishman de-aging tech going.

But without CGI.

She was originally meant to reprise her role (I think even as the lead) but they ended up setting the prequel earlier I think.

Eyeing up Killers of the Flower Moon or the New Hunger Games film to watch in the cinema this weekend. Anyone got any feedback which could sway me one way or the other?

Killers of the Flower Moon is both too long and too short. It'll be on AppleTV+ at some point in the near future.

Haven't seen Hunger Games but I enjoyed Napoleon.

Genuinely think I'm going to make it through this year without stepping a single foot inside a cinema. Just hasn't been anything that I REALLY wanted to see like that.
Spider-Verse was probably the big one I missed. That and Oppenheimer.

I honestly can't think of anything for next year that I'm overly excited about either now that I think about it.

I just think I've hit franchise fatigue. I'm getting bored of seeing the same franchises being rebooted, or milked into the ground, and I'm going to make a conscious effort to watch more "new" stuff (Or new to me at least). I'll still watch and enjoy the stuff I currently do, but I'm ready for something different.

Please set the Bourne film in space.

Everything is better in space.
Yes, even ham and cheese toasties.
