The new Planet of the Apes films are awful.

My suspension of disbelief only goes so far. The first movie should be over so quickly with all the apes gunned down in the street.

They have absolutely nothing on the 68 film - that actually has something to say.

What I really came in this thread to say though is that everyone should go see Baby Driver

That the sight of the Statue of Liberty on a beach leads you to become the head of the NRA?

Yes.

That and being one of the most iconic scenes in cinema history.

Also it led to this

Both Odeon and Cineworld are only doing 3D showings of war of the planet of the apes on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. 2D starts on Friday.

Disgusting attempt to get a few more quid out of people for a film that wasn't shot in 3D and has dark scenes which will be almost unwatchable in 3D.

Wish my image sig would work

Yeah same at Vue, I can only assume it's been decided by the distributors and not the cinemas themselves. I wanted to see it today but don't want to watch in 3D so will have to wait till next week due to work. :x

It’s crazy how they seem to be actively trying to put people off.

At my closest cinema, it costs £11.80 (or £10.30 if you bring your own glasses) to see a 3D movie. It’s £8.30 for a 2D movie. On top of that is a 60p booking fee if you book online.

If I take my missus to see a newly released movie that they only have 3D showings for, it’s going to cost us £24.20. £24 to see a strawberry floating film and that’s without counting the costs of food/drinks before or after the cinema!

And the cheeky banana splits will show 30 minutes of adverts before they start the damn film.

When I went to see Spiderman last week, they accidentally showed us the 3D showing. People went to complain and after a couple of minutes it stopped to a blank screen.

A Cineworld chap popped up to say they were "reseting the server" (Wut?) and the correct version of the film would start shortly. "We've decided in the circumstances not to show the adverts" (not in a jokey way, but like this was some grand concession on their behalf we should be faithful for)

It was lucky he didn't get lynched.

I wouldn't mind the adverts if it was cheap to get in. Under £5 with ads would be acceptable. £11 with ads just makes me pirate more.

I only found out on Sunday that they don't use film in cinemas any more. I mean, it's a while since I was there, but...
My Spider-Man showing was a bit faulty (subtitles went missing about 15 minutes from the end), Cineworld again.

The cinema is gooseberry fool, I've been once (Alien: Covenant) in the past year and I don't anticipate going again until maybe Star Wars comes out, and even then I'm not overly fussed, I've got a reasonably big TV.

I strawberry floating love the cinema and don't go enough. It's expensive, often dirty and you're usually surrounded by banana splits but "a big TV" simply can't replace the systems they have at the flicks.

Totally agree. Watching a film in the cinema is a lot more captivating than watching at home in my opinion and really helps you get into a film.

Going with Meerkat Movies helps the cost and if you wait a few weeks after release date for the big films they tend to be quieter.

Thanks in that case I see no reason why they can't go to willy wonka's chocolate factory together.
