Andy Serkis announced as Venom 2 director.

Very pleased for him. Hope he casts himself in it too.

If they end up calling it Maximum Carnage I'll explode with joy.

I'm surprised it's taken this long for them to get a director, I thought the first one was really successful?

Sort of successful. It was liked by audiences and performed better than expected. It reviewed terribly though.

It'll be terrible. They have already tried damage control by saying it's not a comic book movie and it's not actually The Joker but rather a character who is sort of is but isn't the joker. Also with movies now getting banned for targeting wealthy elites then this will end up getting pulled which night actually make it sell well on blu ray as the film they didn't want you to see.

It's basically Sonic, remove the controversy and it's still destined to be gooseberry fool. Joker, much like Alien, Predator, Venom should all have a mystery to them. Everytime they try to explain the mystery it goes poorly.

Good news! Apparently Neil Blomkamp was involved with a new RoboCop film!

Bad news, now he's not.

Blomkamp feels like a filmmaker completely unsuited/fed up with the studio system. His last two studio films were visually stunning disappointments and he's now been taken off as many high profile projects as he's made.

His OATS stuff remains some of his best work but that seems to have stopped for now. Here's hoping the horror/thriller he mentioned here is the rumoured full length adaptation of Firebase.
