I don't really get the logic behind "We must get this films out in time to compete with Star Wars!". I get counter programming is a thing but still.
The director was boasting he was still overseeing post-production three hours before the premier.
As much as the film and production sounds like a nightmare it’s out because it’s the perfect time. Les Miserables did fantastic at this release time. It’s a time when audiences are off work & can visit cinema that maybe don’t during other times or the year (the target audience for Cats really older adults/families).
January is a box office low point and then it picks up again towards Easter into Summer. Releasing Cats say in Feb/March just wouldn’t work.
I only just got around to watching the trailer for the new Ghostbusters.
Were people....happy with that in general? It didn't give me a very Ghostbusters vibe at all. The complete lack of even a variation on, or even cues from, the theme was a complete let down. Even the 2016 trailer got that right.
