The colour changes throughout. I really liked the film. It's a bit grotesque in the same way The Thing (1982) was and Nic Cage is in fantastic form. Same director as Mandy so it gets out there. I thought it was fab!

Watched it tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Truly cosmic horror and the comparisons with The Thing are definitely warranted although this movie is a very different story.

Really enjoyed it and Cage has his moments.

Didn't the Lion King do really poorly? Or was it gooseberry fool and people still paid to see it anyway? I don't know why they'd do this otherwise.

Behind the 6 best Star Trek films I assume.

That’s not how you spell “Space Force”.

Dumbo is the only recent one that’s really bombed.

They’ll get through all their big films over the next few years. Not only are they far less risky but they’re also generating interest in their characters again with new audiences.

From memory it's Titanic, Avatar, Avengers 3 and 4, maybe Star Wars Ep. VII that are ahead of it. I might be wrong though.

Yep, and Jurassic World in 6th.

This is if you don’t adjust for inflation though. Gone With The Wind shoots to the top if you do.

I think at this point there is only a little bit of crossover in the all-time top ten and the adjusted for inflation top ten. Avatar, Titanic maybe Endgame and Force Awakens.

It goes to show just how insanely popular early cinema was, especially when you consider that most of the Gone With The Wind gross will be US only, and it came out bang in the middle of a massive global depression. The lamentable Birth of a Nation was another hugely popular film, from 1915. It was screened for President Wilson in the White House - the first film to have a private screening there. Cinema history is a nerdy hobby of mine. :shifty:

It was also a different situation back then, films could travel around for years going in and out of availability - unlike now where it's really a couple of months window.

Not to mention, there’s more forms of entertainment available now, competing for people’s time and disposable income.

What I love about these films most is how fragile Vin Diesel's ego must be. He simply has to be the biggest, strongest, surprisingly intelligent but also incredibly well liked and morally just character in these films. It's the most aggressive ongoing vanity project in the business.

Bet he was delighted when the Rock went off and did his own one rather than this.

I imagine so, but conversely I bet there were sour grapes as now there could theoretically be a split in the franchise if the spin offs continue to gain traction. At least the mainline ones get to be all about Dom again.

They're all as bad as each other really, was last year or something when it turned out they, Diesel, Statham, Johsnon, all had it in their contracts that they wouldn't be shown to 'lose' a fight, everyone would get equal beatings etc etc. Don't remember the exact details but wouldn't be surprised if that was fairly standard.
