He's been involved since day one (which is what, ten years ago now?) so I wouldn't be surprised if he's a producer in some capacity.

I didnt realise they were making another Freddie Mercury biopic though.

I was just about post that! At first I was trying to work out if it was a Carrie movie or Freaky Friday type, it looked interesting... then I got to the two minute mark and realised I've seen it! It's why I try to avoid or just watch the beginning of modern trailers.

Now this does it a better way.

So, based on that and the Holland photo, is this gonna be Young Drake & Sully?

Yep. It’s going to be a young Drake origin story of some kind. The studio/ director didn’t want to retell the game story so this is a way to offer something new.

Pretty sure the reason it's now a prequel to the games is because Sony wanted another Tom Holland vehicle rather than any creative motivation. They are supposedly basing it on the flash back sequence in the third game where Drake meets Sully so its not even "new" in that sense.

Having said that, there is no reason why this can't work. There is an Indiana Jones shaped gap in film at the moment and I don't think Indy 5 is going to fill it.

I'm fine with Holland having a vehicle, and that vehicle being an Uncharted origin story. I also like the idea of exploring the early years of Drake and Sully - seems like a lot happened that only gets referenced occasionally in the games, if at all.

For sure Sony have Tom Holland on contract so wanted to find a vehicle for him! That's ultimately why the story was time shifted to suit him. Earlier this year Holland told IGN what he thought the movie could offer audiences.

“I think what Uncharted offers that most video games films don't is that it's an origin story to the games. So if you played the games, you haven't seen what's going to happen in the film. And if you haven't played the games, you're going to enjoy the film because it's information that everyone else is getting at the same time. But I'm super excited to make that movie and it's been a long time coming.”

I mean, no way could Holland play grown up Drake. But he could be the teen Drake from the origin story and I guess he has the cheeky persona, although I feel and we have been shown that young Drake because of his childhood was more sombre. Even Wahlberg with moustache can pass as a younger Sully. I know it's an action family movie but I love these games so I want to see it respected. I hope its written as a movie, rather than a video game movie with over the top quips all the time. Hopefully the world is a little healthier next year, and I will go to see this.

Awful casting on Bowie, his estate rejected it and it has none of his music.

Not sure why they bothered.
