A lot of kids playing FPS today weren't even born when Halo 1 came out and probably wasn't old enough for Halo 4.

It's a smart move, bringing in a new audience and catering for the fan boys, especially with Halo 2 multiplayer untouched.

Seems a bit daft to bring it out a week after COD if that's the case. Can't imagine most of the players of that will drag themselves away from it for a few weeks.

Geoff Keighley interviews Phil Spencer during the conference rehearsal. Keighley ask Spencer why gamers should buy an Xbone over a PS4. He basically says that it has the power of the cloud. Two quotes.
"Live innovation... It will allow us to do some things on a console that have never seen before."

This does look fun but I don't think that the game would be impossible without the power of the cloud.

Umm, what the strawberry float has the power of the cloud got to do with it.

Its an Xbox One exclusive and it looks amazing, hence its a reason to get Xbox One, which is what you were asking for.

Here's why he made that comment.

How it looks is probably a bit more subjective than you think. To me, it just looks too slow.

But that clearly had nothing to do with what he was asking for because his other reason for wanting one was Halo 1-4...pretty obvious that doesn't require the 'power of the cloud'.

Yeah, he's saying that what Spencer said about why people should get an Xbox One, which he perceives to be the power of the cloud, doesn't seem to be at use in any of the games they've shown.

At least, that is what I understood of his comments. I'm not really sure what he meant.

I don't know what he meant either I guess, but it didn't have anything to do with what I was replying to him about.

I did that years ago. Go me 8-)

I am baffled as to why people are so excited for this. It's good value for those that haven't played any of the games, but it's hardly a big selling point for those who have followed the Halo series since its inception.
I think the only people genuinely excited by this are hard-core XBOX and Halo fans. I don't think this is a system seller because anyone really interested in this franchise would be buying an XBO anyway.

Maybe it is also my cynical reaction to why the game has even been made. It is not because it is what these games need, or what the franchise needs, it is because they want to try and have a Halo game out every year. They have to have one out.

The way the industry is now, you can't have a gap of about three years between Halo 4 and 5, so you have to have remakes or spin-offs plugging that gap. And usually it's remakes.

I would happily wait three years between installments, as instead we get franchise fatigue and oversaturation. As well as the multiplayer crowd being split across two or three titles.

I like Halo - just like I like other offenders such asthe Assassin's Creed - but one a year is a bit much for me. They aren't "events" anymore.

* Sunset Overdrive still looks like that it needs to be running at double the speed it currently is to be interesting
* Dance Central spoiling Photek's bet
* Conker will be a DLC character in Project Spark, cue horns.aiff
* bunch of indies, vast majority will also be on PS4 and/or PC
* Master Chief Collection, asking the question "who really wants to play these old games again"
* remake of an Xbox 1 game nobody cares about
* Platinum's How to Donte Your Dragon
* Crackdown (3? Remake? Dunno)

Megatons rating: one stick of dynamite. It would have been three had ntkrnl (and Microsoft) not spoiled all the good bits months ago. At least they've got three exclusives now that I'm vaguely interested in.

Will Halo CE be remastered to take advantage of XB1 power or is it a 360 version? I didn't play that version (er, if such a version even exists ) so wouldn't mind if it's "just" that.

edit:

More than a mere bundle of previously released games, however, “The Master Chief Collection” is a beast of an offering brimming with more bonuses, enhancements, and extras than you can shake an Energy Sword at. For starters, each title is optimized to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s power and will run at 60 frames-per-second. So, even the series’ most recent releases – “Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary” and “Halo 4” – will benefit from the jump to Xbox One, sporting much higher fidelity, better shadowing, reflection, and lighting effects, as well as an overall level of detail that trumps the previous console generation.

woop.

It was rather predictable. But sadly most E3 conferences are nowadays with all these leaks.

My favourite bit was hearing Crackdown Agency Guy  Love his voice acting.

WOW, that is how you do an E3 conference, game after game after game after game!

Yep. Yep. Yep. BRAVO Microsoft. That was incredible. Phil kicked it off saying this E3 presentation was all about games...but I didn't think I wouldn't get a chance to breath

Lot's of great content...and a couple that will make be bite. I mean Halo 2...HALO strawberry floating 2, remade...my personal favourite HALO on XBOX ONE. I drooled, jaw hit the floor and all that. And a new strawberry floating Crackdown. Crack strawberry floating Down.............I died. At strawberry floating last...because it looked like a proper strawberry floating Crackdown.

I'm really excited about just these two from the wealth of content they showed today.

Ori look tremendous. Stunning art-style. Sunset Overdrive looks like so much fun. I forget now...so many good games were shoved down my throat I'm still a bit overwhelmed by it all.

The stand-out bad (as in these stood out because the rest was gravy):
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (since when did Titanfall meld with Battlefield?)
- Dan Greenawalt (he's still an idiot...I'd strongly suggest the weakest link now)
- for all the new technology coming to Forza Horizon 2, it looked bad (the Hurrican didn't look right on the road at all (physics))
- Fable Legends just looked last-gen

Oh and The Witcher 3...looked terrible.

Overall though, one of the best conference's for years. The good far outweighed the bad. Once again, bravo Microsoft.

Thanks Goker for trying to clarify things. Thanks HSH28 for your lively opinions.
So what happened? The confusion comes from me writing a perfectly normal post with two main paras. The first about me wanting to get Halo. The second larger one about Phil Spencer saying the power of the cloud allows things that haven't been done before.

You, HSH28, then posted a single pic of Sunset Overdrive. By not stipulating that you wanted it to refer to the first paragraph it meant that your photo reply (regardless of your intention) was a response to my last para about Spencer's comments about the Cloud allowing things that have never been done before. Then you got a little boisterous. No harm done! But please don't blame me that's the rules of the English language, and the Internet. :)

But it is all open world and looks as good as initial footage/screens which you doubted when you first saw it last year.

I'm not blaming you for anything, your reply seemed out of place to me.

As for not being clear about what I was responding to, I bolded the bit where you asked for a bigger reason to buy Xbox One this year and then posted a picture of a game coming to Xbox One this year.

I thought it was clear enough.

The Witcher 3 looked sub-par compared to everything else because it's a massive beard-stroking RPG on an epic scale. The guy even made a reference to it being ten hours into the campaign, you could probably finish Advanced Warfare twice over in that time. Weird choice for a stage demo though.

Just been over bits and pieces of the conference that interest me.

Sunset Overdrive looks awesome but we've already seen a fair bit of gameplay.

The Crackdown trailer was a bit dumb (launching a building into his face was the most effective way to take him down?)

Scalewhatever looks awful, but will probably be good. I prefer Platinum making melee combat games to shooters.

Some of the Indie stuff looks cool. That one that looks like a cartoon is mind boggling. I don't know how they make a game look like that. The Ori one looks good too, but you don't get a great feel of the gameplay so it's not that exciting.

Hopefully someone else will bring the megatons because it all feels a bit safe, so far. EA's stuff seems incredibly boring or just not ready to be shown.
