Xbox Game Pass - Harold Halibut, Botany Manor, LEGO 2K Drive, Diablo 4, Evil West, Control:UE, Dead Island 2 out now

I have no Xbox Live or Game Pass. If I buy one year of Xbox Live and then one month of Game Pass Ultimate does this still upgrade it to Game Pass for one year?

Yeah, i keep hearing that. I like short cinematic games though, so it would have to be awful for me to shelve it.

That year of Live should upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate for a year, yes. And only for a £1, too.

That year of Live should upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate for a year, yes. And only for a £1, too.

That's great to have confirmed, thank you. I was going to sub yesterday in prep for Halo Infinite but I might try and hold out a bit longer.

Downloaded the Game Pass beta app to have a test of the game streaming capabilities. Dove into a bit of Crackdown 3 and had a bit of fun just running and jumping around, getting into a few fights and flailing about trying to remember what combat options I have available. It ran near flawlessly, apart from a few times it almost dropped connection, but on a massively hot day like this one is and on a phone that seems prone to dropping connections for a second randomly, I'd say that's a success. Such drops only caused fragmentation of the image for a second, anyway.

I find the problem with games that feature pre-rendered backdrops from the 90s is that because they don't redo the backdrops but do mess around with the polygonal characters, it really reveals they're sitting on top of what is effectively a static 1 dimensional blurry photo. It's very jarring to me, which is why sometimes I'd rather play the original where the characters don't look so at odds with the background.

I don't mind this. It makes it feel like its a theater performance or something, which somehow works with melodrama of the Final Fantasy games.

I'd love a 'CRT lines' retro option you find on old arcade titles...
