For those playing sniper elite 5, how you finding the difficulty? I’ve just started mission 4 and no matter how careful and slowly I go, bodies are discovered, shots are heard and everyone comes out. It then continues from there and alarms are going off and the enemy count goes way up. With that, it gets very hard.

At the end of mission 3, my silenced pistol with subsonic rounds wasn’t quiet enough and I had to run for the exit. Persisted for an hour, reluctant to turn the difficulty down from the starting ‘medium’.

I have been playing it on the default setting, but with a few custom tweaks to make it a bit tougher (less ammo scavenged and enemy snipers being more aggressive).

I find that when tings go wrong (which they always do), it has been a bit too easy to just run and gun it as required. I don't think I have done one mission yet (at the end of mission 5 now) where it has not ended up as a bloodbath.

Yeah, glad it’s not just me. I had a lot on me yesterday, from all directions and the SMG after running is a little all over the place, and the sniper rifle a little slow to reload and i couldn’t find any grass to hide in.

Glad it’s not just me ending every mission with a bloodbath. I’m sure there are some sneaky stealth kills possible, but it looks impossible at the minute.

I’m only on the first mission. I aimed for total stealth, which worked for a while, but I got spotted before long. And I decided to take out the radar by sabotaging the generator. Stealth in that rabbit warren of a bunker seemed almost impossible, so I ran around like an FPS to clear the place out. It felt cheap but got the job done.

I reckon pure stealth will have to wait for a second playthrough.

It’s a strange one. Some missions are better and easier than others. Just done mission 4 and it went an awful lot better than my previous missions. The level design is pretty neat and there are quite a few way through. Climbed through a pipe and the room i needed was right next to me. But it was blocked (proper fire hazard!) and required me to go all the way down, across the floor and all the way back up… felt a bit like a cop out.

I've been playing it co-op on PC with a mate and really enjoying it. We're up to level 6 now. We've been trying to be stealthy all the way through but on Hard it seems like we get spotted no matter what we do. So we stealth as much as we can and then go full blown firefight once spotted.

I found a flare gun one of the missions, thinking it was a distraction style gun, fired it into a trench system where a few guys where only to find out it calls in a massive artillery strike on the target :fp:

I know exactly which bit you are talking about. I felt the same.

AFAIK going forward and if your game is going to retail at over €35 you have to provide a demo for Playstations highest tier subcription service.

I thought that was timed access to the full game rather than a separate demo build being required?

Could be, but some games aren't tailored around the first 2 hours of game time to impress....and they get no money from it being on there despite the demo itself being behind a pay wall.

Microsoft is working on Project Moorcroft, a program designed to bring early game demos to Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The demos will be similar to the limited levels and early samples of games that fans would typically spend hours waiting in line to play at E3 or PAX.

These early game demos have largely been lost in the transition to virtual game conferences during the pandemic, and they’re key for indie developers trying to generate awareness for their titles. Sarah Bond, Microsoft’s head of gaming ecosystem, describes Project Moorcroft as a way to bring back that E3-like experience.

“Why don’t we take Game Pass, and make it like the show floor?” says Bond. “Why don’t we make it possible for a developer to take a piece, a level of their game, release it into Game Pass, generate excitement for what’s coming, and also get that really valuable feedback as they’re tuning and preparing their game for launch.”

Game demos like this are a lot of work for developers, especially getting them ready for what was the usual annual E3 conference. While E3 is not happening in person or even virtually this year, Microsoft is setting up this program to financially reward developers that are willing to take the time to create these demos.

“We’ve set up the program and structured it so that developers actually get financial compensation for the game that actually benefits them financially, and also get the benefit of the great feedback as well,” explains Bond.

Project Moorcroft is still being worked on inside Microsoft, but the plan is for curated game demos to start rolling out within the next year. The initial focus will be on independent developers, and any game developer will be compensated and be able to view how their demos perform.
