Hades is supposed to be fantastic.

Hades is really great. I have played 40 hours of it on Switch, but anyone who hasn’t tried it, even if you are not a fan of Dead Cells etc (which, by and large, I am not) should absolutely give it a go.

It also has a really intelligent assist mode that can be toggled on and off. I chose not to use it, but knowing it was there made things feel a lot less futile when I was struggling (which wasn’t for that long).

I still need to finish it properly.

Anything with ‘rogue’ in its classification is an instant turnoff from me, absolutely no chance. A reductive view? Definitely. But that’s horses for courses.

What is it you're saying no to though when you do that?

Y’know, the roguelike topic we had here recently was excellent and a bit of a learning experience for me, so perhaps one day I’ll try one.
I think the idea of it being different every time is a bit daunting, maybe? Then you bandy about stuff like ‘it’s fine to die, it’s how you learn’ and I don’t have the literal time for that.

Yeah they're definitely not my absolute favourite type of game but Hades does better than most to make dying a good enough experience to mitigate the feeling that you're wasting your time.

I need to get back to it really.

I generally feel the same, but West of Dead recently changed my outlook slightly (before it left Game Pass ahead of me finishing it). It’s a lot more palatable if you get to gradually gain abilities etc instead of having to start from scratch every time.

Hades is the only one I have ever really enjoyed. But yeah, it’s fair comment to say you simply dislike the entire genre - there is something uniquely unrewarding about them more often than not in my opinion.

I think it’s the story that keeps unfolding irrespective of your performance that kept me going back and not feeling like I was banging my head against a wall. People go crazy for Dead Cells, I gave it a really fair crack but genuinely didn’t enjoy it because when you died it just felt like starting the slog all over again.

Got Psychonauts 2 preloaded at least. The gameplay needs to be significantly better than the first game, fingers crossed. Jack Black’s in it and everything.

So I ordered a Series S with 6 Months Gamepass as my secondary console.

Please say I can download one Halo game and not the entire collection due to the 500Gb harddrive?

Kind of. You have to download the Collection launcher first, but from there you can choose which games you install. And the campaigns and multiplayer are listed separately, so you can just get what you want.

You'll also need the 158GB required to install the full collection or it won't allow you to install *any* of it. So make sure it's the first thing you download.

I tried to change my install from Halo 4 to Halo CE the other day, and accidentally cancelled the "update", and for some reason my console deleted the entire MCC from my hard drive and now I haven't got room to fit it on again :slol:

+1 Hades. As if it needed saying. But with Buff indirectly dismissing it, it did indeed need saying! Curse of the Dead Gods is also another solid roguelike, sans the characterful charm of Hades. Arguably more challenging but less fun than Hades. (I say that but I haven't gotten very far into it.)

I plan to finish the ascent and try hades and the art of rally.

I'm interested to know more on how Hades compares with CotDG. Played a bit of this last night and quite enjoyed it (it's an interesting blend of Diablo, Slay the Spire and Rogue Legacy) but there is a nagging feeling that I'm wasting my time as I'll just drop it when Hades arrives anyway.
